Nz herald online has stuffed up with this article about our draw this afternoon, claiming it ended our losing streak. What losing streak??

3 games against Melbourne perhaps?

What I found more clueless was this line

"Such was their hold on the game, Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert had the luxury of giving Hamilton teenager Marco Rojas, 17, his A-League debut, coming on for Leo Bertos in midfield with 15 minutes to go.

Yup Ricki thought 'I'm all over this. f**k it, I'll be luxurious in this draw and give skeeter a run''

Too early to criticise Rojas - he almost set up a winner right at the end there and deserves MUCH more of a chance than 20 minutes away from home. I'd give him a half next week I reckon...maybe start him and see how it goes.

Interesting you started by saying "too early to criticise".  Could have easily said too earlier to praise him.  Guess that shows your mind set.

Behave yourself. liverpoolfan1's comment looked to me like he was saying Rojas was poor and where were all the people who were talking him up - I defended Rojas!!

Had I said "too early to praise him" (which doesn't really make any sense) you would've accused me of being negative too.

That shows your mindset - i.e. now making stuff up to try and twist anything I say.

He didn't even come on for Bertos either.

Sorry Steve-O, but it wasn't that at all....it was the absence of ANY sort of comment which I found interesting.

Classic Trash Reporting from Silly Reporter that don't know squat about Soccer or bother to what's happens in A-league. Thats what happens without any consistent and enough coverage and reporting on A-league in NZ. Idiots.

Great thing about a-league is that theres around 27 rounds. We just need to focus on making the top 4.

1 Win
3 Draws
2 Loses

Isnt too bad, main thing is that we are building combinations, midfielders were positive. defence was awesome apart from that world class goal tonite.

Considering we had players backing up from world cup duty i'd say "WELL DONE NICS"

Roja did well, he harassed the opposition in defence and his speed surprised them and even a repossessed a few balls in defence. He really didn't do anything wrong at all.

If that is how you described Rojas performance, I'd love to see how you describe the other 10.

I'd probably go a little more understated. Got on, tracked back, conceded a couple of freekicks and put in two crosses. Took the defence on once and failed. Not earth shattering but not bad on debut.

You're obviously pissed, so I'll forgive you, but that's a ridiculous comment.

I know you guys have a vested interest in this lad, but here's my recollection of how he went.

The first two times he got the ball he tried to run at defenders as if he was still at school and was dispossessed and/or outmuscled by experienced professional defenders, the second instance of which led to him fouling the defender in question.

Following that I remember him featuring twice...once when he played a 10-yard ball into someone's feet on the edge of the area (a pass most weekend footballers could have made) and right at the end when he did really well to beat a man and get a cross into a crowded area which could have resulted in a late winner.

That's all I can remember, and like I've said already, it's not like people have been leaping on here saying how much of a difference he made when he came on.  I would say he had a fairly quiet 15 minutes.

I'm not bagging him - no way - but let's get the yellow-tinted glasses off here.

Marco was class?  Hardly.

Remember LF1, Feverish is the person who said we should get Kruse.

When I meant well, I meant "well enough" rather than "very well"

Debut nerves still. He did his bit in the small time he was given. The thing is that he was in the right spot in the passing chain and in the position to defend enough to render slow the opposition attack on his side.

If someone was on the end of that late cross of his and scored, everyone will harping about how successful he contributed.

Disappointing he wasn't carried off.  Mind you he was just as crap as he has been for Brisbane all year so maybe leaving him on helped us.

Very true. But he didn't. So we're not.

If we had scored one more last week and this week, most of the angst would be gone. But we didn't. And it hasn't.

The operative word here is IF and unfortunately, it means f**k all after the match

marco was playing right in front of us and when he got the ball he looked fkn exciting. He got closed down the first time when a second defender came in - but that ball at the end could of won us the game

The thing is Roja represents Yellow Fever and we have a reputation. Bagging him is like bagging Yellow Fever. He's our baby.

Rojas doesn't represent Yellow Fever.  He plays for the Phoenix.  Sure, he got his chance to impress through a scholarship provided by YF, but to suggest he is out there representing the fans is drawing a long bow.

I would imagine praise and feedback from his coaches and team-mates would mean a lot more to him that what he reads on here.

It may take Marco a few games to get used to the level of defending. He probably can't dance past everybody like in other Football games he has played. Looks like he could be exciting and could create things.

What a bizarre turn this thread has taken.

Marco is a telented 17yo who made a 10 minute cameo, created a little and made no significant mistakes.  How a match where we played the reigning champions off their park is becoming a discussion where people feel they have to defend Marco baffles me.

Clearly opinions will be subjective when we support the team?

You'd already dived in by that point with an uncharacteristic remark...

I must say there's a distinct lack of comment from those who talked up Marco Rojas, included him in their "starting elevens" from week one and bagged Ricki for not picking him.

...and I suspect Feverish (and I) were both just playing along.  I in fact commented before he did.

Nice comeback, but that the moment I haven't got any more things to say to stir you all up, other than he should have produce the winner in the ten minutes he had against the champion because he WAS on our scholarship.

I was happy to see us play well tonight. Especially away from home. If we keep playing like that we will make the top 6. Not often seen us play a match where the opposition has so few good goalscoring chances.
