Be an hour of the best fun you've ever had with your clothes on. (and I'm from Pukekohe, which despite what John Banks thinks, ISN'T Auckland )

Still at 6, I think:

C'mon, only 4 more bodies.

Van - Check
Ticket - Check
Accomodation - Check
Hat - Check
Milan Baros - Czech

If we don't get enough bodies to fill the van, I'm happy to take the 5 (+ me) down there and back for petrol money. Just getting Plan B ready...........

Thankfully, there will be no white hoods or burning crosses in any vehicle I'm travelling to the game in.

None, and the van won't be a Volkswagen either.

Just to end my own 'will he, won't he' saga. I've booked flights.

Sorry lads.

Smithy, cheers for your efforts all the same. Get News to point me out on Sunday as I'd like to buy you at least one beer all the same (I think we might have met in person before but I'm not %100)

The friends I tried to enlist are already halfway down the country with a car so will be making the extra distance themselves on the day.

Best of luck sorting something/ finding four more.

Alright now, Aucklanders. Looks like this game is going to sell a million tickets and is going to be THE football event of 2010 (no offence, World Cup). I need this minivan to happen, this minivan is my ticket to Wellington. So come on, get on it, I will bring AT LEAST one bag of Werthers Originals to share.

agreed, I need to know the factuals though to find more ticket holders, as will be trying to convince some backpackers to make the trip from auckers, but backpackers are always skimped on cash so they need to know the exacts.

Can someone post the definites please?

Van will leave from Auckland early on Sunday, coming back up on Monday. Accomodation will be in the YHA in Wellington. YF are graciously covering the cost of hiring the van so all that you'll be paying for is petrol (probably around $30 - 40 tops) and your bed (which is around $25). All up, return trip and a bed for the night will be in the region of $55. That's about as exact as it can be at the moment.

I normally fly down to games but am driving down to this one, this is a sweet deal which YF didn't have to get involved in. To be honest the lack of response to this is embarrassing and has really pissed me off. As far as I'm concerned Smithy should just flag it.

I will be driving down anyway, leaving Sunday and coming back Monday, so if anybody who is down for the van trip wants a ride, chipping in for petrol, PM me. Don't mind picking the Tron guys up or from Taupo. Have to sort out your own beds tho!

Thanks for the details. Do we know how many seats remain in the van?

I'm with you on the frustration on getting a small number of gents (and ladies) to sign up for a roadie.

I'd normally fly as well, but stuck between a rock and a hard place with getting from Taupo to Welly and back to Auckland so this minivan is a sweet deal! I've already got tickets with 17 mates at the stadium.

I'll send word around to the backpackers for some ex-pat brits, welsh, scots and irish who'd be keen to see some good kiwi football. Otherwise I'm with you on the roadtrip and will contribute to gas, heck I was gonna drive by myself if I couldn't get a ride! Have a bed already, was gonna pay for YHA out of goodwill :)

You said you're in Puke, do you mind driving into the city for pickups then back out again??

I think there are 4 seats left that have to be filled if the van is a go-er.

Pick-ups won't be a problem. As far as I'm concerned, if it fills the f*****g thing up, I'd drive up to Whangarei and back down

Well in that case a trip over the hill to Wainui shouldnt be a problem.

It's a mini-bus not an armoured car or a tank

Agreed, and I don't think too many think kindly of 16+ hours travel within two days (whilst having to take leave on Monday (which i haven't sorted yet haha)) when flying from Auckland is much cheaper and faster.

Had the game been a week after the Glory match I think the hands going up would have been far numerous as last minute flight prices would have been on the high end.

I'm just glad this works for me when I'm in Taupo, as flights from the big lake were upwards of 350 one way to Wgtn.

Actually I probably didn't realise just how much travel it is. Hope this gets off the ground anyway.
