"They send one of their best sheriffs to put law into town - and he does whatever he needs to do and it is quiet."

Ben Buckley: [to himself] A referee! But law and order is the last thing I want. Wait a minute... maybe I could turn this thing into my advantage. If I could find a referee who so offends the citizens of Gold Coast that his very performance would drive them out of home finals contention!.
[looks into the camera]
Ben Buckley: But where would I find such a man?
[pause]
Ben Buckley: Why am I asking you?

[Miron Bleiberg reads her letter to Ben Buckley]
Miron Bleiberg: [quietly] To the honorable Ben Buckley, CEO of the FFA...
Townspeople: Louder! We can't hear you!
Miron Bleiberg: I'm not used to public speaking.
[clears his throat]
Miron Bleiberg: WE
[Everyone jumps in shock]
Miron Bleiberg: THE YELLOW AND BLUE, FOWLERFEARING CITIZENS OF GOLD COAST wish to express our extreme displeasure with your choice of referee. Please remove him immediately! The fact that you have sent him here just goes to prove that you are the leading asshole in the FFA!

Matthew Breeze: Work here is done. I'm needed elsewhere now. I'm needed wherever outlaws rule the West, wherever innocent women and children are afraid to walk the streets, wherever a man cannot live in simple dignity, wherever more than 5000 people show up to a football match outside of Auckland, wherever a people cry out for justice.
Crowd: [in unison] BULLsh*t!
Matthew Breeze: All right, you caught me. Speaking the plain truth, Terry Serepisos paid me off with his profits from The Apprentice

That is the best comment of the day. It is my biggest beef. All the guys on Fox & Sky should start saying what they must see. They are gutless.

Refereeing is commensurate with standard of play. Expect no less. And be relieved whena decisionor 3 goes our way.
"Personally I think Matthew Breeze didn't have a good game and if you can't say that then something is wrong," said the striker, who could risk the ire of the FFA by speaking out.
"There have been similar situations involving him and us before and when we see his name on the sheet now for our matches we'll know what to expect.
"Every time we've had him, things have gone on.
"Against Wellington he was the main man of the game, not the players, and that tells you something.
"It was never a penalty. It's quite clear that Bas Van den Brink won the ball and while he put his hand up for making a challenge that perhaps he shouldn't have, it certainly wasn't a foul and it has cost us very dearly."
<...>
"I watched the game again and Anderson was booked when he didn't even connect and was on the receiving end of a kick himself," scoffed Smeltz.
"As for Zenon, he was clearly tripped and I just don't understand those sorts of decisions. They make you wonder."[/quote]
Oh, and also, we suck.
[quote] "Wellington didn't play well. If they think they are going to get to and win a grand final with a style of performance like that they are kidding themselves."

Surely he should be concentrating on why the team has never scored against us, especially since he's a striker......
Maybe that's why he blamed other facets of the game.
On refs....they are what they are and in all fairness they match the quality of the A-League.
Breeze was awful, but take a look at half the players on the paddock - weren't much better
Royal2010-02-10 11:22:58
smeltzy needs to pull his head in.....the quality of the reffing has been sh*te ever since he's been in the league he's just anti Breeze cos breeze called him for dirty play a while back. Also probably a little unhappy that he has'nt and never looked likely to score against us.
Queenslander 3x a year.
ahhhhhhh 6-0. We didn't play that well? Why didn't you score? How many goals have you scored against the nix? What was that?

Nice work Shane, and to think I used to sing your name.

Hes entitled to his opinion, for me I hope we pull Gold Coast out in the second game and we can go over there and beat them again,
If we were that easy to play against they would've got some points off us this year and that hasn't been the case.
Well see at the end of the season, if they've won the grand final
we'll hold our hands up and say Shane was right, and fair play to
them, but I personally can't see it with the squad that they've got.
