I was listening on the radio so probably shouldn't vote but by the sounds of it Paston made some crucial saves. Ifill sounded dangerous when he was in the game and so did Bertos.

Muscat for me. Not one of those performances that shine when you're watching but fantastically tenacious, tight-marking and several useful forays up field.
Closely followed by Brown and Paston.

Said Paston in the other thread but i think Durante pipped him. Looked solid as a rock in the middle at the back, saved our asses countless times.
Good to see Lochy and Manny playing well too.....

Yea, Muscat had some good moments. Went past Mcglinchey really well when he was big time trapped by the attacking corner flag.

Durante for me. Was critical in keeping our clean sheet today. A shame our best player wasn't an offensive player.

absolutely and utterly paston.
durante and siggy did well, but lets not forget that in at least 2 occasions they each gave the ball away and almost cost us a goal, and the game. still a great performance, but give paston credit for once.

His aimless long balls up the park were pretty offensive to me.

Durante made some crucial tackes, and the defence / keeper has to be in the running when the result is 0-0. Not a bad vote, but I personally couldn't give it to him as I felt he gave the ball away poorly sometimes - too many long balls when he didn't need to. And not sure - wasn't he one of the guys who gave the ball away horrendously just outside the box?Colvinator2009-09-27 19:32:47

Muscat for me played really well got forward most of the day and distribution pretty good. Durrante and Sigmund committed performances but their distribution was tragic.
Best game I've seen from Lia he was solid and passed ball around well.

Yes, he was.

I'm the first to bag Paston... except today
Made plenty of saves to keep a clean sheet. Don't like him having to make saves at his feet because he isn't great getting down, but certainly earned the title today.

Thought this was one of the best performances I had seen from Muscat. Paston made a few good saves and did well to get a clean sheet, for once. Ifill is definitely our best player and created heaps in the first half just ashame about his hamstring as you could tell he was struggling. But I thought Vince Lia was the best out there today, a lot might disagree but rarely do we notice his presence but he made many key saves and was solid in the middle.

Last week I thought Paston made saves that other keepers might not have and voted for him. this week i thought he played well and showed good judgement coming out to deal with some dangerous attacks. But I felt more that he simply did the job against a pretty ordinary attack that has one of the lower goals for (same as us).
For me Ifill is still the man. Even on an off day with a hamstring troubling him he's stil the standout player in the side. Had the best chances and created more than any-one else. Plus worked back deep defensively.
I can't give the other midfielders the vote when they were dominated for possession. A lot of loose touches. I thought the defense played solidly, particularly Manny, but siggy and durante both coughed up dangerously around the box, durante still plays a lot of ordinary long balls and too many dodgy moments to give one of them MOM. But Manny would be my alternate MOM.

I also thought that Lia was good today...and he was always noticeable..definately put his hand up for a regular midfield slot.

Voted Muscat as he was brilliant all round the park. Angry little man on D and got forward well.
Paston definitely went close with great positioning and composure (whats up with his goal kicks though - they were pretty average in that second half)
Ifill was still dangerous but not as much as usual.
Durante is an absolutely outstanding defender one on one, did brilliantly to hold up his attacker on a few of their many counter attacks.
And Lia was another good fighter in defense too.
The passing throughout the team was pretty average though, but agreed, all our central guys gave it away too much. (Maybe a bit of credit to CCM swarming defence)

Gave my vote to Muscat, could just as easily have given it to Lia or Paston though. Ifill was incredible considering the hammy.
You know we belong together...

Not necessarily MOTM but I thought Lochy is showing signs of becoming the player he was in V1.

Side question...
Does anyone record the results of these for an end of year player of the season? Say 3, 2 and one point each week. Be interesting what the tally would be now. I'm sure Ifill and Bertos would head it up but I wonder if there would be anyone else that consistently picks up a point or two to be up there as well.

Hmmm, yeah I'm not so sure. Looked relatively solid in D(1-on-1) but I still think he's a bit lazy when needing to get back (especially when he loses the ball), and he needs to get his head up more when crossing - sure he puts it in an area but he'd be much better off picking out a player.

Paston of course. Great game showing why he is one of the top keepers in the league even without his usual terrific organisational game. Durante a very close second.

who the f**k voted for Lochhead ????
did you see the "crosses" he did in the second half ?? the one where the ball sailed 50feet over the cross bar ?
and the aimless headers
and the aimless ball pumped up to Greenacre
(oh, next week - PLAY AT LEAST 2 UP FRONT AT ALL TIMES !!!!!!!)

Paston for me, commanded area well and for once didn't make me feel uncomfortable having him there. Dura, Manny and Lochy all very very good at the back.

Seems like we've all seen the same game!
Paston definitely having a good game and the defence working very hard too. Durante, Muscat and Lia all getting back and closing down attacks,
Again however, second half - what went wrong? Seemed like aerial ping-pong and hopeful long balls.

You are so right. I have never seen a player at this level give the ball away as much as he does.
Riki came out some time ago and said that Lochhead was the best left defender in the league.
This guy is the WORST defender in the league and if he is going to be fisrt choice in the AW (which he is) we are going to be in trouble in the play offs.

Yes, well there were two parts to the defence this week. Tenacious and good running back to cover the attacks. then once they had the ball they hoofed it up or played to an opponent.

Voted for Manny. I must have not been paying attention cause I can only remember one really spectacular save by Paston. Admittedly that was a stunner but were there more?
On a side note why is Super Leo continually running out of puff and needing to be subbed these days? I don't remember it happening last season.

At times last season Lochhead was our best crosser of the ball. He's put in some good crosses this season also. At least one today. A couple of shoddy ones too, I agree. Actually thought Durante was worse in terms of passing today.
Find it more weird that 3 people voted for Caceres. I'm hoping that was just a poor game for him (like I hope with Diego.. !!) and that he's actually better. A bit concerning that we've signed these two midfield players who seem to be rejects from other A-League teams and not performing. Actually just thinking about Caceres, he's done ok from wide positions a couple of times, but in the middle today he gave the ball away poorly. I assume Herbert agrees with me that he was playing garbage, and that's why he got subbed first. Maybe in future play him out wide? Not sure where he usually plays...
