Hard to go past two goals on an injured knee. But Sigmund, Lia both impressive.

2 goals, a lot of great passes, and got Matt Thompson sent off. Should I say more?
Yes, I should.
Muscat comes in on number 2 as he OWNED Sibon.
Siggy at no.3.

Everybody stepped up.  Ifill got the jewels.
No errors from North or Hearfield and North got forward a lot. North's best game for the Nix.  At one stage he'd played forward, layed off to Ifill who went wide and North made a run into the box to be the only Nix there.  mjp22010-11-24 21:58:01

Brown was MIA until that lovely touch to set up the goal.
Just as I was screaming for Ricki to sub him for Ward he pops up with the dopest play (off the outside of his foot,it seemed).Sick

best game from ifill for some time

first 30 mins was some of the best i've seen from us all year, ironically we didnt score and then ifill popped up to win the game

nice defence, paston and siggy deserve plaudits
thought hearfield was very good from where i was sitting.............

Ifill.

A mention for Hearfield. Poor bugger is being put all over the park by Ricki, has copped tons of flak but just takes it in his stride and gets on with the job. Putting him in at left back was asking for trouble but he was excellent I thought.

muscat was good but a few lazy touches in possession spoiled his game for me...

North's best game for us easily. But he was still behind a few others in man of the match.

Bertos was good down the flanks again, hes one of the few players who backs himself to take on and beat players, instead of just sticking with the 'instinctive passing game' that most kiwis seem to play.

Dont think North was a bit average on defence for a Socceroo though? Players seem to go round him too easily for mine.

Did make a few good runs forward though.

Those 2 things combined justifies having him at RB with Siggy in the middle I think.

EDIT: Oh and Ifill for MoM. Siggy with an honourable mention.Tegal2010-11-24 22:08:24

Siggy has done really well past few games actually, happy with him, Iffils back to his own self, pity Greenie didn't really play. Leo was a bit off, but, hey, this is no time to be negative! No one did particulaly badly (apart from the ref, even though he isn't a player, but i needed to comment on his sh*ttyness.), and all is good. :)

This. He is so versatile and I really hope he is re-signed. He might not be first team in future but he is an excellent stop gap measure.

Will go for Ifill. 2 goals that won the game, and looked a bit better tonight, despite his bad miss in the first half when he shot straight at the keeper.

Hopefully he can go from strength to strength now.

Paston had good saves. Brown seemed a bit more involved too I thought.

Yeh, I know what you mean and I'm not going to argue.  But just a few thoughts.  North has cost us a couple of games with errors playing at RB, a position he's not used to.  Sure Ifill got a couple of goals, but he also lost the ball a fair bit.  Not criticising, but surely you expect strikers to take those sort of chances.  You expect defensive players to keep the opponents out.  They did that tonight and for mine, North made a big step up.  I don't believe anybody beat him.  MoM?  Strange thinking maybe, but he and Hearfield managed not to loose it for us tonight both playing out of position, and North managed a bit more than Hearfield.  Just a small Pat on the Back from me.

I'm pretty sure North has played at RB regularly. Happy to be proven wrong...But I'm quite sure.

Ifill, Siggy and Lia were standouts for me

Manny was very disappointing I thought - so too Timmy. Manny lost the ball countless times because of a bad touch. Thought that Lia was the one that carried the midfield 3 tonight which was quite surprising.

I voted for Siggy in the end- I think his run provided the impetus for that 1st goal. Will miss him immensely against Victory.valeo2010-11-24 22:27:09

Looks like you're right, briefly(?) in Korea and previously four plus years ago
May 2009 interview when he was in Korea
"You started this season as a right-back. That isnt your usual position...

For the past three years Ive been a central defender and I played there with the national team. I have played right-back three or four years ago but to come here and play, it is a very physical position. It took me a little time to get used to that position but it is like riding a bike, you never forget."

he looked good at RB,eemed a lot more assured of what he was doing, hearfield played well at LB too, especially given he is an attacking midfielder by trade.

My man of the match last night was the very kind gentleman who gave my wife his spare ticket to allow her to get in as she had forgotten her ID and the stewards werent going to allow her in( and we've been season ticket holders since season one) Im sorry I dont know your name but my very grateful thanks to you

Not my MOM but totally agree with what you're saying. Remember he's naturally an attacking midfielder.

I hope not. Manny is better forward. Without him, we're not left with much on attack in the midfield

Did Marco even touch the ball in the 90 seconds he was on?? I'd like to see him given 10-20 minutes to let him develop. Most of the other teams seem to have young players.

Clint Bolton.  He failed more times in one highlights clip than most people do in a season.  Credit to the man.  Simply woeful.

Manny absolutely bossed midfield - Manny back in the middle was key!
