Well, Reddy had a strong debut, McKain very impressive making crucial tackles and blocks. Caceres had very good timing and looked very impressive and should push for a start next game however he does seem to be more of a "Super-Sub." Very hard to choose between McKain and Caceres for me but I will go with Caceres for earning us a point and playing very well after the goal.

If I had my way Reddy and McKain to share it. Reddy probably deserves it for an inspirational debut, but McKain was everywhere in defence and even turn into an attacking option later on!

Caceres showing us all what Ive been sayin/thinking, he's a player who can inject some pace and intent into the game unlike the floaty stuff we're getting out of bertos + daniel

Definately a 'super sub' and not a starter, though.

McKain was fantastic in defence. With that sort of performance consistently, he should definitely be in the Australia squad

I thought McKain kept us more in the game then Reddy. Reddy can only get better as he gets to know the guys better too so he seems to be an adequate replacement for Paston. Browns finishing is awful so I can't forgive him this week. Four really easy chances in the last two games that really should of been put away.

What worries me is he does perform alot better at CB then DM so that may be why he moves if he can't get more games at CB ahead of Siggy and Durante. I definatly think he should start at CB ahead of these two as he has had two top-class games there recently -twhich would be in our top 3 defensive efforts ever by a player IMO - against Adelaide and Melbourne before he was injured.wellyphoenixfan2009-12-19 00:20:02

OK, so I'm the first to vote for Ferrante when his name is up on these polls. But voting for Brown 2nite is lower than pathetic really.

Caceres, he changed the game up until his introduction we were heading for a limp 1-0 loss. As for whether he is a starter or a super sub, haven't seen a great deal out of Daniel and Bertos for a while to justify their starting spots. Thought Caceres was best of that trio at Palmy last week as well and was surprised he got hauled off and not one of the other wide players.

McKain by a country mile. Lochy, Reddy and Caceras (when on) were also very good tonight.

McKain by a country mile - the timing of some of his tackles in the box needed to be perfect (and they were) otherwise they would have been penalties. I really hope we can re-sign him - as much as I like Durante and Sigmund - McKain is a class above both of them.
Honourable mentions for Reddy (great first game after 1 day with the team) and Caceres. Caceres backs himself and has the pace and skill to beat players.
90 minutes next game of second half Leo please.
Brown drives me nuts - he does so well to get in to scoring positions and then can't finish for sh*t. I know he has scored a few but how many more could have / should have .....
Dishonourable mention for Hearfield - we've got 2 players suspended but he still goes in with a tackle that he should have been red carded for - he has learnt nothing. Remember he also picked up a stupid red card against Sydney last year - I guess some take a bit longer to mature.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Would leave Bertos, but make sure he's wide in a 442. Thats where he always operates best. Start of the season is when he was there and in form, but doesn't seem to do as well with one striker in front of him, makes him try to push to goal a bit too much.
Caceres is quality. I just like the mencae he brings as a sub.. so would be a tough call. He just has that injection of creativity and attack that makes him the perfect sub whereas his starts havn't been too promising, however that could be to do with the formation too?
I think 442 with Greeny and Costa up front and Ifill and Bertos/ Caceres with the other coming on as a super sub. Do feel like Daniel is getting complacent

Bertos has been woeful recently but you can still see he seems confident? Why? Is he still getting it from the freekick goal against Perth?
He's done nothing of late to merit any confidence at all and needs a kick up the arse from someone asap.

I only say the second half due to work..But I dont agree with McKain as the best player on the park for phoenix..I personally thought he was ordinary again! Why does he keep playing the long ball? To his credit, the movement of the ball from the midfield was ordinary..
Rojas did nothing when he came on, way too small and soft on the ball..needs some developing..Didnt even know Costa was on there..Carceras should start over him..
Reddy should stay in goals, even when Paston comes back!
Brown missed two sitters, and really cost us the game! The back line can stay, McKain needs match fitness and I feel a little safer with him in the back then Sigmund, just hope McKain gets rid of his long ball rubbish..
Hearfield was impressive from what I saw, died off a little bit in the 2nd half..Has done nothing wrong though, and should stay in over Muscat..
Ifill has gone missing lately..Id prefer him to sit in behind the strikers? Maybe with Muscat back, we could go with Hearfield and Carceras up front?

Caceres, without him we would have lost the game, simple as that. In terms of the player who made the most impact on the match, he was the one. A little guilty of going for the wonder strike late in the match when maybe a cross was in order but fair play to him, he was on fire and why not have a dig.
McKain was immense all game on D, some of those tackles were outstanding, I thought Durante looked a bit spent, not sure why.
Bertos had a great 2nd half, and Reddy was solid as a rock at the back, apart from the goal....what was the story with that??

Don't usually like voting for subs as even if they are on fire they seldom have enough time to make much of an impact but Caceres definitely changed the game so he gets my vote.

Vince Lia is going well
as for Hearfield, crikey
I remember well the wailing and gnashing of teeth around Robbie Kruse 'tackle'
surely Hearfield's effort was a straight red
we dodged a bullet there I think
also if Siogmund gets 3 for a punch after the fact
why not Hearfield?
his actions are surely far more dangerous

Thank God Zetter dealt with it. Acutally, other than not dishing out as many cards as deserved by both teams, I though Zetter had a good game.

Really? I thought that was one of the worst reffing performances of the year. Completely lost control of the game. Was stop start for the whole 90 minutes because he didn't dish out the cards when he should have.
Luckily for us he was inept, though, because if he wasn't then Hearfield would surely of been gone.
