I liked Siggy in the first part of the first half.

But Ifill FTW.

To be totally honest does anyone know who Vanstrattum did to play for Juventus? (And yes I realise he was off at half-time despite the fact they didn't announce it at the ground)wellyphoenixfan2009-10-25 20:27:23

Tim, just for his reaction once the ball crossed the goal line - classic. But seriously I felt it was a truer team effort, everyone chipped in whenever it was needed.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Voted for Daniel, after fighting his way back into the team he's got on the end of some crosses and got those goals he really really needed.  Ifill was awesome but props to Daniel for his brace and looking ever more threatening every game.

I told you lot his organisational skills were unmatched in the A-League. How many keepers can craft a 6-0 win to perfection like Paston?

I have to agree, Daniel was awesome today. Vintage form.

There were plenty of great performances out there - the entire defence was massive, and won loads of ball to set up all these attacks that the Phoenix had. Greenacre was great, so was Brown and Lia. But my vote has to go to Ifill who was different class - his first touch was exceptional nearly every time. He ran it.

But up for the man of the match award must be Kristian Rees who did a couple of fouls as usual and then who had the good sense to get himself off the pitch before the carnage started.

wow Ifill really showed us how great a player he is, but I hve to say as a note - Muscat was really great too.

Too many nix fella's on fire to night to have a favorite. Watching Siggy and Manny off the ball they were giving Smeltzy grief like he's probably not had for a wee while.Bedubb762009-10-25 21:01:09

Ifill, with Daniel and Durante also standing out for me.

Greenacre was amazing today, got to play his natural game with a strike partner to play off and also worked his little socks off for the full 93 mins...seriously impressed with him (and all of the team) today.

Ifill without doubt.

His passing skills in the box today was without doubt the best I have seen any player in the A-League do this season.

Was going to vote Ifill but noticed Dura only had 1, so gave it o him for being the stand out in a stunning defence that completely shut off the GCU attack.

Chen deserves a few for pure comedy value, I  him.
You know we belong together...

Picked Durante.  Great individual performance, of course, but I also think that his leadership played an important role in a fine team effort.  (He was obviously giving a pre- kick off talk to the boys, and the forward runs he made drove the team on.)

Ifill. But there should have been a Whole team option. Evryone played outstanding (Bar Chen)

I'd love to give it to Daniel, his best game EVER!. But I think ifills play today was simply sublime.

tempted to go with Durante, but felt it had to go to an attacking player,Ifill contributed in most of our goals,so he wins. best game i seen Durante play though, after having some sh*te form hes really come to be playing at his best.

bit harsh.

he made some good runs, but he needs a bit more game time to learn the physical side.

he has potential.

Barely NZFC quality based on games and training I have seen.  We'd have been better signing someone local.

Still, maybe there is something we've missed.

Great game by the whole team. The desire to win back the ball and put constant pressure on the opposition even when 6 goals up was just amazing to watch. Great game by Daniel, Durante, Siggy but yeah Ifill got my vote.

I'm changing my vote - MOM Higgins for sure.  Let 5 goals through in the second half and put the game well out of his own team's reach.  Rounded twice, one through the legs... expert stuff.

Ifill, no question.

Honourable mentions to Daniel, Durante & Siggy (allowing Smeltz NO shots on goal).

Durante & Ifill both 10s today. Tempted though to give it to Lochy for sentimetal reasons. What a way to celebrate your 50th, and he had a decent game, instrumental in goals 1 & 3. Also epitomises the Phoenix way, which is to play football, be creative, even if he gets it wrong some times.
Well done that man. Good to see you getting back to your best.

I know, I know, its serious!

Just have Costa on the bench instead. Easy. I thought he linked up with Greenacre well a couple of times but yeah, very average.

Durante was amazing. He ran out of defence like a young Kolo Toure a couple of times. I voted for him because Ifill already has 60 votes :P

Lochy also a standout. His work for the first goal was terrific. I hope he keeps that form up - it is the best i've seen him play for a very, very long time.
