MOM vs Perth

Caceres drew some colourful expletives from me for not bothering to make an effort for a pass near the corner flag. Admittedly the ball was pushed through quite hard but he gave it up for lost when I'm sure an Ifill or a Manny or just about any player in the team for that matter would've burst a lung trying to get to it with the game hanging in the balance.

Can't say it surprised me. The flipside was that he did some impressive stuff in those 10 minutes but nothing to win MoM.

Yes the best of the Kiwis was probably Bertos.

Lochhead was solid

Because the team were up to f**k all until he came on?

Because sometimes a sub can completely change the course of the game in your favour.
MoM isn't awarded on honest toil for 90 minutes, but to the player who made the most significant impact for the team with his contribution on the field. Generally subs don't tend to get enough minutes to really stand out in this respect, but arguably yesterday was one game in which they did (thinking of both Caceres and Leo here).

Doesn't matter. Unless you score a hat-trick you don't get man of match for 10 minutes when you're fresh and the other blokes have played 80.
He played well and looked excellent but a man of the match should play the majority of it unless something remarkable happens like I mentioned. Nothing too remarkable happened except he contributed to our goal and created half chances, again in just 10-15 minutes.

I wouldn't say we were up to f**k all before he came on. Costa missed a sitter and chances were coming our way, just the finishing probs again. Even the goal wasn't clinical, Caceres got foiled by good keeping. We were just fortunate we have a guy who was alert to the rebound.

Man of the last quarter of the match award easily.

There were about twice as many shots on target in the last quarter as there were for the rest of the game.  Apart from Caceres being a lazy sod with not chaasing one ball, he had a hand in a whole lot of that action.  Plus he wears mean socks.

However I'd have voted for Lochead if I'd known the reaction it would get.

Is Costa better off the bench or as a starter?

I see 4 votes for crowther as man of the match, and much as I realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder I m also guessing that these 4 beholders didnt watch the match

You guys must have had some quality refereeing before that game cos the performances at MES are normally far worse than the one on the weekend.

The reffing was alright if you were a Perth supporter

Burns had about 6 bad fouls before being booked and yet the likes of Lia got one straight away.
