From what I could make out off the Radio, Siggy was great.

Yeah though I thought Coveny played well and seemed to try and try although no-one stood out for me.

I thought Smeltz had a poor game passing was terrible and his linking up with the other players I felt lost us the game.

Siggy grows in stature from game to game. How long a contract have we got him on? Defo need to stitch him up for long-term SOON if the rumours about other teams targetting him a true.

Only 1 year other clubs are apparently looking at getting him.

I just don't see what Cov brings to our game. As I said in the match thread:

"Coveny - old warhorse", "old campaigner" etc but does bugger all. If he was 22 he would be slated for the way he plays, a "striker"

He gets away with playing crap due to his age.

Can you imagine if we had a striker with pace up front with Smeltz? When we play technically poor football and have to counter attack we need pace up front. Cov can still run a bit, but nowhere near enough. How many goals has he scored? I don't wanna here all that he plays the 'heskey" role either as he don't. A season too far I reckon.

Daniel for me, christ knows why though and then Siggy, although he had a poor first 5-10mins but then really got stuck in. Bertos and Mckain next.

I wonder what the least amount of time somebody has been on for, and received a legitimate 'man of the match' award...

We sounded more lively on the radio once Daniel came on to complete the holy trinity. Worth starting the three of them next week I think.

Yet he could get past Moore most of the game and would easily be faster then Smeltz and most of the team although I do agree with what you said. We obviously need another striker (or two) and I just can't understand why we haven't signed Brockie, can't they see that we only have 1 striker + a fast old guy who can't even shoot???

Another player I thought had a good game was Paston, wasn't his fault they scored Kwasnik should of put his body on the line.

It's because he's a bit camp and has nice hair that's why I voted for him and that's an honest answer, that and he can put the ball in from the corner like no one else in the team. Can you name anyone else worth a mom for us?

Yes you are right his ability to shoot is even worse than his pace tbf. Mind you Moore is hardly Carl Lewis is his? Kwas had a shocker.

No I ACTUALLY wonder - like, has a dude come on and scored 3 to win the match, or anything like that? Surely. Think Kanu might've done it for the Arse against Chelsea few seasons back. Not sure if he was a sub though...

In this case, I 'voted' for Paston. Good saves, no mistakes that I saw...plus he's tall, white, and slim.

As for Kwasnik putting his body on the line - he'd have needed a double-jointed neck or something funkier to do anything with that one.

No I mean he should of just jumped into the pole it would of saved it, who cares if he got injured he was pretty crap and atleast Bertos could of come on, pretty selfish from Kwas

Frankly I thought we were very flat apart from 5 - 10 minutes shortly after half time and the last 10 minutes when the Roar sat back.

I think you can always count on Sigmund to give you an honest effort - nothing flash but gives it his all.

My MOM however was Gao - that is the most involved I've seen him in any game. He is quicker and more skillful than most and when he is "switched on" he is very dangerous.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I dont think we will see Smeltz at his best again,  seems he has chosen the money and the beach to the team/club/coach/fans who picked him out of sunday pub team

Im going for Gao, who showed pace and tried throughout.

But Siggy had another great game, I was really impressed with him again.

Siggy for attitude

"Barndoor Leo" added a lot when he came on

McKain is growing into his role

not sure if the folks around me would agree with the Lei lei Gao call

Surprised nobody has mentioned Durante, probably because he is just good old Mr Consistent. He defuses a lot of situations, one of those players that generally does a lot of work but doesn't get noticed.

Enjoyed watching Gao play, TBH its excellent to see our skillful players actually backing themselves and running at defenders, needs to happen more! Sure he lost the ball a few times but he looked genuinely dangerous heading in towards their box.

Siggy is such a mind ease at right back, very impressive also considering he's probably not the fastest player, just has great stance and strength, rarely beaten 1v1.

Our back four + Paston were solid again, can't believe that ball slipped past Kwasnik for the goal.

I voted Super Leo for MOM, he did a lot when he came on.  Lots of pace, some dangerous crosses and his awesome break that was so nearly a goal.  I don't know why Smeltz felt the need for that fancy bicycle kick at the end, was it really the best option for him?

Another week of hot potato in their goalbox, really need to shoot when we get in these positions.

I don't think using the example of Bertos missing a one on one is good justification for giving him your MOM...

True.. but we have to forgive Leo.

I voted for Siggy, had a great game!

Gao? I thought he was as anonymous as Modo in the 1st half. He certainly picked up in the second half to his credit but MOM?

Siggy for me as well, and like the fella a few posts back I thought Durrante was pretty impressive at the back as well.

Trouble is I really want to be naming forwards at home games as MOM if we are going to really troubl 6th place or higher.

MOM has to go to someone at the back given our lack of finishing and enterprise at the other end. The back four were again superb and I'd go for a tie between Siggy and Dodd. Siddy was solid throughout and Dodd defused some heart stopping attacks. I'm getting used to both players turning in stunners so McKain's gonna have to stay in midfield even if he doesn't like it. I'll vote Dodd

Charlie are you living on the Goldie? You have been sl*gging off Smeltz at the 'Nix all game, and your location is Aussie.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Anyone ripping into Smeltz can go get a big black dog up them. If we didn't have him we would be dead last.

When he did the bicycle kick I felt sick but at least it didn't fall to "Super Leo" who would have kicked it too Picton.

Yeah I pointed this out on the match thread and got a witty answer that made out his sl*gging off Smeltz was some sort of sarcasm and he did not mean it. But he obviously does so I can't see him being a Nix fan.

Siggy, although I had to think about this for a while. The other candidates for me were Durante and Paston, but since I have a massive man-crush on Siggy, I went with him.
