Gonna give it to Costa. Super-sub today. Surely will start versus Jets.

I looked at it and decided to abstain

Crowther for me almost defines the first two and a half years of the Phoenix. He certainly looks the part, then has his moments, then proceeds to have one or two spaz attacks, then has a wank, then does something good, then for no reason has a 'Ye Gods' moment.
Or is it just me?

I went with Lia, Costa second, paston third.
Lia worked hard for mine and was the only one winning any 50/50's

costa for mine, he made a huge impact - certainly did enough to push chen off the bench.

Went with Costa due to the goal.
Nobody really had a clue, though. We were all mediocre at best.

Costa did one thing (two maybe - made a good run for Ifill to slip a ball) and gets votes? Man he gets some love round here! Ifill for me, Lochead and Daniel also did well, as did Costa when he came on (but not MotM worthy!)

Lochhead gets another vote.......... this place is screwed up.

no, i can't give him credit for anything.

I've noticed. Seems like he could score a hattrick and clear the ball of the line with his nutsack and tackle anyone who comes within a 10m radius of him and you still wouldn't give him credit, because you are a knob.

Daniel deserved it for playing injured but Costa did have an immediate effect by being positive. I give Ricki his dues on a good subsitution.

Thanks for that post, I needed cheering up and that was just about the funniest thing I've read here
He did alright, but looked insane at times. Cocky tipping the ball over the head of a sydney player, but hey it worked...

It's true. We do love Costa. (That's a "we" that excludes "you".) Objectively, scoring a goal off the bench is a very good contribution, and it wasn't down to luck. (Nice run, clever finish.) If the other subs had made as big an impact, we would have come away with something.
That said, this poll's bung - the Man of this Match was not wearing our colours.

For overall consistency throughout the game I thought Daniel was pretty good. It's just a shame that one idiot's boot impinging on the penalty area meant his 3rd goal in 2 games was cancelled out. The follow up was pretty weak alas.

Like I said, Costa played well, but 15 minutes of good play does not = man of the match, unless you really do something special. I never said the goal came down to luck either, it was a very good finish, he got over the top of a quite awkward ball that seemed a little behind him, and put it into the corner beautifully.

He was on in the 63rd.
But, yeah, we agree that Costa shouldn't be MoM. That honour rightly belongs to Bridge, and there really isn't any point in trying to pick a best performer from the Phoenix.

I know, but he was fairly anonymous for the first 10 that he was on I thought. Its fairly obvious through the last 3 seasons that this weekly post is about the Phoenix man of the match by the way.

There are always retards here that do sh*t like that and think its funny but I don't find it worth commenting on, Costas are (in the main) genuine votes.
Edit: the above sounds angry, not meant that way.

I've been up and down supporting Costa, I called for him to play, but he didnt show much at the start of the season, but he does have that eye for the goal, and has been performing well in the friendlies we have mid week.
Ifill has to be the superior man of the match, because he was on for the whole match and does have class, but Costa deserves credit where credit is due. He must have had another good dream Saturday night like he did against the pissants last year.
Think he should be our bench cover for striker as he has the ability and its time for him to step up bfore the end of the season. I think he wont be classed as youth again next year, so I'd call for another young striker signed next year, and then Costa is going to have to really prove to be goood enough to stick around as a regular bench player. I think he has that potential

Im not sure about that....everytime I look at the man of the match poll it seems its about anything but man of the match
I have to say that man of the match for me would have been anyone who gave brosque a good shoeing

Cockels gives Costa a rap & in this SMH article:
Sydney's crowds have held up well against a general downturn. Results have helped, but the entertainment factor is what will keep the turnstiles clicking. In that respect, Wellington contributed as much as the Sky Blues, and it's a source of some mystery why coach Ricki Herbert continues to hide the talents of the lively Costa Barbarouses. The exciting young striker should be in Herbert's New Zealand World Cup squad, but his lack of game time with the Phoenix is hampering his development. Perhaps yesterday's lively effort off the bench, crowned by a well taken goal, might finally tip the balance in his favour.

Can't believe 4 people voted for Lockhead.
Have a look at one of the goals when the attack was down the left hand side, the bloke that scored the goal was in front of Lockhead and he headded for the near post and the guy in front of him scored on the far post- which is where you would expect a left sided defender to be.
The guy is a joke and if he playes like that on the 14th November, then we are in trouble.
