Why was the topic concerning this closed. IMO it is a bigger loss than Smeltz leaving. So why no discusion on it? Smeltz has pages.

because there is plenty of discussion in the transfer thread.

There is also 138 pages in the topic, I'm not going to read all of that just to find out what people think about one player, not the lot of them. How come Smeltz gets his own thread.
Didn't answer what IBTL means either

think its only fair to move the Moss discussion here. I'll say it again, not happy about losing one of our best players. If Paston continues to inmprove then we really don't lose too much i guess.
Queenslander 3x a year.

Paston has technique but moss had aggression

Moss has shot stopping abilities that Paston can only dream of. Remember Moss against Sydney last year- No way Paston could pull that off.

...or Imraaaaaaaaaayyy. Or even Australian options I guess. When one of the NZ national keepers is stolen off them it is a sign they have good keepers.

The fact Moss has actually signed means it is now off topic in the Transfer Speculation thread.
We seem to have some good options available in Imray and Spoonley. Does Imray have the positioning to make it as a pro?

Be pedantic if you want but I think you'll find thats where the discussion is or at least was when Robin was looking.

Welcome to Smellbourne, Mossy.

What about Jake Gleeson? I think we have plenty of options in GK, nothing to worry about there. Imray, Spoonley, Gleeson.

Definately think that a new thread is required now it's confirmed, watch it explode!
If we can convince Spoonley back then great, I'd be very happy with him or Imraa-ay!

C'mon Bozo for a season and if he can't last a season cos he's too fat then Paston's always there.
Could work.....
He draw a crowd at least and if Fred stayed then a big season ahead

Not so stupid as it sounds. He was impressive for CCM - still a fantastic shot stopper and a very big presence in the box. And you do have to laugh at some of the stuff he comes out with, so, yeah, he would be a good draw card.
On the other hand, for all his I'm-a-changed-man persona, you do have this sneaking worry that he's going to have another brain explosion one day and do something massively dumb.

I reckon Bosnich would be a good influence in the changing rooms too. He's a pretty articulate guy on Fox Sports. Don't know if he is really up to a whole season though.

with Shane gone we need someone new to challenge Dodd for the worst hair in Wellington title

Doesn't anyone else think that Dodd is likely to go as well? Wouldn't he have resigned with the other 5 if he was staying?

Yeah quite a lot are thinking alone those lines. Key part of what looks to be strong back four. Would be nice to keep that back four through next year as well.

I disagree. I reckon Smeltz is a much bigger loss. Had he not played for us last season we could quite easily have ended up like the knights considering the number of goals he scored. Plus we don't really have any other strikers capable of stepping up at this moment and contributing goals on a regular basis.
While Moss is a big loss, we have a NZ rep still at the club in Paston to fill his spot. There are also a number of keepers floating round NZ who wouldn't look totally out of place in the A-league.

Totally agree. It free's up some dosh too. In all honesty keepers shouldn't get freaken injured and if/when they do - go looking for a short term signing then and there if you don't back your youngun. It's a waste with someone like Moss/Paston on the bench.
Spoonley will be fine.
I would've rather we kept Moss and let Paston go and I do wonder what the f**k Moss is thinking with Theoklitos likely to sign for next season. Does he want to be a bench keeper his whole life? Maybe he just wants a winners medal?
I reckon he should've stuck around and fought for his spot. Paston is pretty old too.
Paston started off alright this season - especially in the air off crosses but he has faded a bit and doesn't measure up to the value Moss offered with his reflex saves.

or GC...shhh. don't say that. Moss you can kind of feel a bit stoked for. A NZ keeper taking an import spot at probably the best or at least one of the top A league clubs is fairly decent, shame he had to leave us, but that's the way it is I guess.
Dodd would be a sucker punch, been one of our best for two years, and a massive part of our defence. A never say die kind of guy. would be bad news to lose him, but it has been mooted before.

I was serious about Bozo. He might not be up to a season, but if he was up for most of it and Paston was here it could work. Paston would still get more games than he did last year, or might get this year. The you've got 2 decent, experienced keepers. One a bit unstable but......

Which one is the unstable one.
Based on the last two games Moss > Paston and he has sat on the bench and you want to bring in Bosnich? Bring in Spoonley and keep giving him exposure in a professional environment, not have the NZ number 3 keeper sitting on the bench behind Ross Nicholson at ACFC

Paston im pretty confident will be signed soon, we want to keep our best keeper. Thats why Moss has left, he's realised that he had a better chance of getting pass Theo at Melbourne (in the event he resigns) then Paston here.
