MotM announced at the 80th minute - why?

Seems weird that the man of the match is announced at the 80th minute.

Surely the logical thing is to wait until the end and announce it then?

Someone else could score 2 goals in the last 10 minutes ...

Presumably they want to get an extra plug in for Carlsberg while the match is still going.

What if their motm gets sent off straight after the announcement? I agree with you, stupid time to announce it and who is it that chooses the motm anyway?

And its not really a man of the match award anyway. Should rename it Phoenix player of the match.

This. Seems very strange to name a 'man of the match' when that player's team is getting spanked. Almost patronising.

Pure marketing. Fenton did well, you can't blame him for the spanking.

totally agree it is a complete wankfest. Imagine how the player feels getting his name announced when they are getting smashed. I recall o couple of very awkward looking photos when A Rod won it - pretty sure he wither didnt get what it meant or just plain embarrassed.

Didn't take long for this call to come true ... Fenton should not have got it against CCM whe it was Kenny that changed the game in the last 10 minutes.
