Felipe. Just the impact he had on the game.
Dodd was great but he did make a few errors - e.g. when he tried to kick it over his head when he was on the penalty spot and it fell to Brosque (?).

I think the only reason why people are picking Felipe is because he
scored a goal that stood out.. Patrick didn't get a yard on Dodd
all day.

Daniel played great with Sydney players targeting him for obvious
reasons. He took the disallowed goal with stride and scored on his
second attempt anyway, and I noticed him bailing us out in
defensive situations a lot during the second half. Moss would get
my second vote.

A goal that turned the entire game and turned what could've been a 'here we go again' into a 'holy sh*t we're back in it'. It wasn't just that either - he worked very hard until he went off. Won a few balls etc.
Definately close between him and Dodd but bleh. Smeltz was good too.

That goal was huge. It brought us back very quickly after a soft
concession goal, but it also broke our wee goal drought.

I trust you will not be treating Adelaide as "Australia FC".
We've been bloody supportive of NZ football (aside from the
perennial idiots you get everywhere) and the commentators you have
concerns with don't come from our neck of the woods (or desert).

No, of course not. You'll be Australia United.

Dodd by a mile.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Felipe's goal turned the game had to be him. Anyone see sky news
this morning the sports guy called us Melbourne Phoenix.

felipe...a different class.karl dodd a true grafter.a nasty centre
half thats what we want.brilliant.

Moss - he had a couple of spectacular saves, looked confident all
night.

I would have to go with Daniel. He ran his arse off all night. even
worked hard to get back and help defend.
I'm suprised there are so many votes for Daniel, to be honest. He
worked hard and the penalty was great but he made a lot of
defensive errors. Terrible ones, actually. He passed it backwards
into our penalty area straight to a Sydney player once.

Got to be Felipe for effect on game - feels like we're living in a
Wellington Wonderland today!

Felipe was match changing but I thought the whole team stood up
tonight. Even the players who have taken a lot of stick, Christie
and Ferrante in particular, showed they belonged at that level.
Ferrante put in some quality balls, and Christie never stopped
trying in what is clearly a problem area for the side. Sure there
were some mistakes, some miskicks etc, but these things happen in
games.Sydney are a quality side, although they are missing some
strikepower, and won't finish at the bottom of the league.
Ricki has them playing for each other, and for him - as was
clear with the post goal celebrations. That sort of togetherness is
rare in a football club, and will mean that the Nix have that never
say die factor which is very encouraging.

I'll go for Dodd - as the goal wasnt his fault - and otherwise we
were rock solid. Well done back four.

voted for Dodd though i hovered over the Felipe option for a while
for me Dodd's attitude swung it, he wanted to dominate!
Great to see how hard working our Brazilians are compared to
some of the other fake brazilians like Patrick and Denni

I voted for Dodd because he had a great game.he was the rock at the

Now if you'd said "We've been bloody supportive of WELLINGTON football" you'd have strayed far enough away from stupid commentators and perhaps you'd become Adelaide Utd. We don't care about those failed Auckland teams, and we're Welly not NZ!

Carl Dodd was a rock....kept the not very Oi-rish lad "Patrick" out
of it for the whole of the game and intervened early enough in
countless Crimmo FC attacks...Ferrante put in a couple of class
passes and looked solid...

put my vote in for Felipe last night for that match-turning goal,
but on watching the replay this morning I can see why Dodd is
getting the votes - he really negated Patrick who could have turned
the game for Sydney.
I put Daniel because he had his best game yet but i thought the
whole team stood out.

Smeltz is more consistent. Felipe showed a bit of what he could do
but gt injured. Daniel, penalty aside, still disappoted given all
the preseason hype. Good to get a win but the defense still looks
fragile - a bit more accuracy from Sydney and they could have won
3-2.

Could have, should have, would have...that's a poiintless discussion.

...and a little luck and Smeltz would have made it 3-1 at the
half.
2-1. 3 points. That is all.

You can't really say that about one team and not the other.

Daniel. No drama. Well played. Fine penalty (x2).

Well taken penalty..both times..but I dont like his diving..and his
errant passing and soft crosses.

Felipe - for his ability to routinely take on and beat
opposition players - and his great goal. I'm sure that one'll
be in his highlights package for the rest of his life.
Daniel was useful. He's not perfect, at times giving the
ball away - but he loses the ball precisely because he takes
on the opposing team - he's creative. And his creativity
causes trouble for the opposition - makes the opposition mark him
(often with several players), thereby creating space for his team
mates, works beautifully with Felipe, works hard on defence.
Ferrante had his best game of the year. Hadn't been sure
he was up to this level, based on his wayward passes & shots in
first few games, but if he keeps playing as he did in this game,
I'll understand what Ricki has seen in him
football tragic for too long
