can you do one where people say they just want an ugly win, and then complain about how we play when we get an ugly win?
I like tautologies because I like them.

best thread in the last 6 months on this forum, Frankie.
It just scares me a little bit that you have all this free time to skim through like 5000 forum pages writing little notes and finding contradictory statements

Someobf yet to emerge? An interesting strategy, gleeson is playing for a youth team in a division Christie plays. Spooner is hardly playing pro football.
My initial comment on his league being non professional was meant in jest. Now we learn gleeson is not even good enough for semi pro

2nd best thanks for the research but I rest my case
After being threatened with the ban stick because I had the good sense to agree with the Oceania player of the century In picking a professional goalkeeper over an amatuer youth player I feel somewhat agreaved after reading that post.
Portland Timbers today announced the signing of youngsters Jake Gleeson and Freddie Braun.

I just thought that the slagging off of Billy Harris was a bit.........I don't know, petty?  He stated an opinion (in an opinion piece) and the general response was "you are a dick" and "what the f**k have you ever done".  We laugh at the rugby supporters attitude about the Helbergs but we are  just as guilty of throwing our toys if something is not 100% complimentary of us.  Then there are comments about having things lined up for Harris on Sunday (I am guessing some kind of banner or chant) whichI just find a little embarassing.

Massive oversimplification much?

The reason the response was "you're a dick" is because his reasoning just didn't stack up.

In summary it says:

1. The Nix win-loss record improved steadily over their first three seasons.

2. It dipped this season, despite bullish predictions.

3. They need to make the final for it to be a successful season.

4. Manchester United are going to win the English Premier League.

Therefore the Phoenix's entire existence to date has been mediocre, QED.

Now you tell me, how do you engage someone who is that dull in reasoned discussion?

You're defending him because a few of the sentences in his article are true - this year the Phoenix did have a good squad with high expectations that they haven't fully realised, etc etc.

But overall that article is just tosh.  He's written the headline in the shower one morning, and then written a bunch of arse underneath it to fill up his word quota.

In response to that, I don't think it's unreasonable to poke a big yellow painted abusive stick back in his general direction.  He has a platform, we don't, so we can't post a reasoned think-piece in response.

What we can do is point out with the use of a bit of house paint (from an unspecified manufacturer) and yellow fabric (from a local retailer) that he is as poor at his job (both his current one, and his previous one as a footballer that he uses to justify his badly set out arguments) as he accuses the Phoenix of being at theirs.

Glass houses.  Stones.

That doesn't make us childish at all.  It's doing what we can with what we've got.

/rant.

Go on, Smithy. Get in there

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I concur Smithy.

I have read many of his articles etc over the years and find them mind numbing at best.

Plus the 100% thing is just wrong. No one on here is 100% complimentary of the team.

Interesting use of product placement there, Resene and Spotlight. Hmm.
