New Ambitions for Season

Halfway through season now, and we're sitting fifth. Not far off going better too........

I think pre-season, most of us would've been happy with a fifth final placing (or one below)

What's your ambitions now looking like for the rest of the season?

Personally, I would loooooove a home playoff match. Fourth would be amazing to clinch a home playoff spot.

Best unbeaten run we've ever gone on just now. Chinks in our armour have been shown in the last few weeks, but also a fighting mentality and winning spirit have been shown. I wouldn't call us top 2 right now, but I'm also not scared of Victory/Sydney given our last meetings.

Fourth is our highest ever, can we match that this season? Can we beat it? How high can we go lads????

I think 3rd-4th is what we should be aiming for, but i'll still take a 5th place.

Home playoff for me, minimum is top half.  I've always objected to the goal of "making the 6" when that means coming 6th, which is in the bottom half.

I have always banged on that we should be aiming to be number one. My view hasn't changed. We might not get there but it stops complacency and keep the guys on their toes.

Right now I'd be happy to stay fifth, depending on the next three results I may be happy to change that. If we manage not to lose against the Melbournes and Sydney this coming week then I'd push to say we could manage 2nd or 3rd. I don't see us catching Perth. Seeing CCM beat City was epic and means that no-one is unbeatable.

I'm happy if we make the playoffs, but we should be striving for 1st. 10 points is a large margin, but we've had Perth on the ropes before (until we saw red) and they lost to Sydney, a team we beat 3-1. They're not going to be push overs, but we could totally do it as long as we keep getting results. Especially against the current top 4. The next four games are really going to be an indication of where we'll probably fonish

Really depends on the next 3-4 games. Hugely important in terms of determining whether we are just a 5th/6th team and will sneak into the finals, or if we will be battling for a top 4 spot.

We really need to be aiming for top 4 now, though if someone told me we'd come 6th at the start of the season, I would've taken it.

What teams are actually better than us?

My ambitions for this season is:

1) still exist at the end of it.

2) still have Rudan, Krishna, and probably Williams/Sheridan/Taylor as well next season.

Victory, Perth, City, Sydney have better squads; no doubt. Doesn't mean we can't beat them - this is the A-League, anyone can beat anyone still.

Agree with that. Although I'd add a 5th place (minimum) finish to that. Now were here, I'd be gutted to finish any lower.

I dont think its as simple as that i think the squad are still learning what Rudan expects from them. They are also starting to really buy into what he is trying to do.For this reason i think the longer the season goes the better we will get.If thats the case then i think we can give it shake no matter where in the 6 we finish. Scrapping to wins and draws on the back of sub par performances shows these guys are building a good team spirit.
