Hey! It’s been a long time since I saw someone say this, but today I feel it’s truly due with a few tweaks and some motivation to beat the South Aussie pissants:

In Chief we Trust!

I should apply, could I make it worse that the Brisbane Pizza baker analyst?

Work Experience? That's something you offer to people at school, isn't it?

This sounds more like total exploitation to me.

Think Chief gets a pass mark at this stage of the season.

8 goals, 8 conceded, 2 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws.

A couple of uninspired performances but on the whole with the high line a much more exciting watch.

If he can get any kind of result next week, he will be ahead of the curve.

Yesterday was impressive! It's been so bad for so long, I had the majority of blame on the coach. But this performance IMO places increased emphasis for the other possible reasons that we have for the post part been both poor and boring.

Yesterday was good. We'll done Chief.

Really happy for Chief that the guys turned on that performance. Do think he has copped more of the blame than maybe he should have. At some stage the players need to play their part and i think yesterday they stood up showed what they are capable of, its know up the them and Chief to show they can repeat that rather than just every so often.
Maybe that optimism might be okay.

Definitely deserves credit this week. Felt like the build up was all a lot more positive, building the players up to playing in the stadium etc. really hope we can stop the rot against them next weekend!

All this shows that the plan is coming together, last season he tried to get this plan into play - it didnt work. Changes have been made with both players and tactics. 6 games into the season it looks like the players and coach are on the same page.
Certainly helped that James and Hughes were back - defensive line look so mch better

He is such a bloody sad sack though. Did you see his post match interview? He should of been buzzing but he moaned about the team not doing what they were told.

not doing what they were told is probably the reason they won and the game was enjoyable unfortunately.

didnt see it no, will check it out, you can win and still not be happy if certain moments havent gone how they were supposed too. I don't imagine he had a high line ooopsie conceding just after subs were made was in his plan.

One win in a blue moon and some fans thinks he deserves a pass.

This is the reason why this club hasn't won anything and will continue too.

Let's give him a few more weeks. AFC is there for the taking.

Please excuse my literalism.

A blue moon is every two or three years on average.

This is two wins in 6 game weeks.

I think most of us are reacting to changes he’s made as coach from our poor performance last week to win against one of the competition’s form teams.

Imanix was saying Armiento was wasted at LWB and he played further forward. Hughes in the middle and James on the right helped the space between the lines, our attack down the right and our recovery of the ball was played in behind.

Though tbf it is beginning to look like there are no easy games or gift 3 points in the league this season. Almost any team could beat any other if they play to their potential.

It’s not top of the table stuff, but again it’s better than last year and an improvement on the specific problems of the last game. Agree with the last bit!

Talking about surprises: I expected us to beat Macarthur, and hopefully to draw against Adelaide.  And Auckland to thrash Newcastle.  Well. so much for a form card.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

nah.

He was specifically mentioning the end of the game where we allowed adl to dictate the game and put us under pressure.

It's quite an open league.

Sydney are top having lost a third of their games.

Three for me, and two for them.

The sight of Armiento blind switching the ball to the right flank was a thing of beauty.

I think theprof and one or two others suggested he go into the front three. I had my doubts because he can be a weapon out wide knocking dangerous crosses in. But he was awesome as a 10 and as theprof and others suggested he would be, was a massive goal threat.

God forbid a coach has standards and wants his team to play a full 90 minutes.
If he was buzzing? Someone will whinge he is getting ahead of himself because we're still no good.

I don't buy into this scapegoat mentality. Even if he breathes loudly, someone's going to get annoyed, and it's so tiring.

Jeepers, yes. I wasn't happy with the last 30mins.

I'd question whether the players he had on had the skills and pace to keep up plan A, but to a large extent we lost the plot and were just hanging on.

I'd be unhappy if he was happy with that.

You could hear him yelling at Piper to press! And probably a few others.

I think Chiefy gets a pass mark from me at this stage if the season. You can see he has a distinct plan he wants to implement and this plan is exciting to watch.
Its quite a technically challenging system of play and it requires a certain level of player to make it work. It requires technical skill but also experiance and confidence. You can see from the last 20mins against Adelaide that lots of the younger squad players are not there yet  The long term injuries have been a real problem. Im sure that Chiefy would rather bring on AL veterans like Retre, Museulic etc to close out a match.
We will probably still have an up and down season but we are playing some excellent football. If it wasnt for bloody Redmayne and his seven saves we would be near the top if the table

Did any one notice Craig Goodwin in the game? Chiefy's designated tactics nullified his input greatly.

Yes I agree that this was one of the key factors in our win. It's not that he was marked out of the game, but that he had nobody to pass to effectively.

Good point. This was the first ever time we've beaten Adelaide with Craig Goodwin starting (Cheers Piney for that stat.)

He was a little salty after the game, gave no praise and little credit to us and claimed they lost because they were off it. Was a bit surprised someone as experienced as him and who has seen and done it all came across like that in an interview

Lol, if that was the chant and we were beating them at the same time! He’s one of those hyper-competitive Aussies who hates losing. And as someone remarked recently (actually it was about Robbie Williams’ career but sidetrack…) arrogance is perceived as a good trait when you’re cool and winning.

I’d love nothing more than to do it to them again in Adelaide. Always one of the tests of a good team.

Agree!  Generally many of the Auckland Port supporters haven't worked out where the boundaries are yet. They act relatively young and stupid. Some are good value but many haven't worked out the difference between good banter with a sense of humour and ultra-style aggressive nastiness. I hope the Port leaders start taking a bit of proactive responsibility like the YF leaders did many years ago. Auckland has already established a WSW-style fan reputation. It doesn't help that the Auckland FC club and GoMedia Stadium management are relatively hands-off in trying to manage their antics - how come they can keep getting away with flares and smoke etc? I also saw a couple of Auckland fans trying to provoke fights when leaving at the last game at Sky Stadium. Luckily our Nix guys weren't falling for it but the provocation was pretty extreme and I wouldn't have blamed them for retaliating. All this when there were families and kids around. Never seen anything like it at a Nix game ever. At the time I told a couple of Police officers just 20m away about it and they looked pretty interested and one started heading back for a look....it was outside the Stadium on the Concourse so a public space. Not classy stuff at all.

Wow seems like the Port have shown their true colors with a abusive post  directed at Chief on social media. What a piss poor excuse for a fan base. So awesome the other clubs have fans who would rather have a beer and a bit of friendly banter.
Classy response from Chief better than Corica and Hays dummy spit last year when Chief said something.

Was also an excellent response saying he is going up to Auckland to win. None of this being happy with a draw bollocks. You play football to win. Really good show of intent from him there.

Their fanbase really woke up and chose violence.  Absolutely uncalled for shows the kind of graceless winners they are.  Hope this fires up our team.

And good on Chief, use it as an armour so it can never be used against you.

I wonder if it was the same F/wits that hounded those two Podcast Fellas into removing their Podcast?? It would surprise me as they cry with laughter whilst enjoying their soy milk triple shot sugar free, organic latte's.

And yet we’ll be there supporting the team regardless. Remember the Yellow Army chant when we were down 6-1 at the last away derby?
