Yeah that is my early thoughts as well. Not sure of your reasoning, but that pattern is seriously ad nauseam for me.
Yes, it got gifted to us to use and I'm all for respecting the culture, but it doesn't have to be on every kit. It's not even a good design, nor has it ever been applied well on stripes. The two different gray shades also doesn't help.
Hard disagree. I think it’s actually a really nice design 23/24 kits are easily two of the best we’ve had. 22/23 home kit stripes also worked really well imo.
I do agree it didn’t really work on last seasons kit however.
Alright now that I've seen the proper thing, everything bar the Entelar sponsor integration (yuck) is pretty nice. The pattern will act more like a watermark live, so I'm alright with this.
Looks good! But the biggest hang-up is that sponsor. I don't know why some companies are so adverse to recolouring their logo. Like no one cares that your branding colour is blue and peach entelar. If anything, seeing a sponsor make a kit look worse makes me resent them a bit. To be fair, this one could be much worse.
So anyways I recreated the kit and played around with some ways of making the logo incorporate betterWPX Entelar.png541.83 KB

Top left and bottom right are my favourites out of the four.
If I had to pick one, top left with the white logo.

Wow, that's the nicest kit we've ever had imo. The colours pop, stripes with the pattern are spot on. Smart the way they finished the stripes at the top with that piping. Collar is great, love the black shorts/yellow socks combo. Looks absolutely amazing. Sponsor works for me. Nice job! A striking kit 9.5/10
As much as I like Adidas, I'm really glad the Nix are supporting a NZ business rather than an enormous multinational.
Also - and obviously it's hard to tell if this is greenwashing without properly looking into it - they seem to have a focus on operating somewhat responsibly, with this sort of sustainability initiative:
"Through Dynasty Sport’s pro team and grassroots programs, we are on track to repurpose in excess of 12,000,000 plastic bottles in 2024.
Along with the use of recycled bottles, the production of our Ecotek fabrics also have some great environmental benefits. In comparison to normal fabric the production of our Ecotek fabrics use; 62% less energy, 99% less water, 35% less waste created and upwards of 20% less CO2 emitted."

The silliest thing being that they do seem to have a monochrome version of their logo, as evidenced by last season's women's kit. But oh well... I'm sure our eyes will adjust to it over time and stop noticing, heh.
Overall I think it's pretty nice! It's not possible to please everyone but they've obviously listened to the feedback and done a good job incorporating the different elements that were worth keeping.

Bottom Right would get my money. Excellent rework on all of them though.

It's a great kit, but I agree the sponsors colour's detract rather than improve. All of your alternatives look better and are more saleable. I think the one top right would be perfect.
Mods feel free to take this down if against rules for advertising. Figured I'd put it here since it's kit-related.
Gonna be doing Wellington Zine Fest tomorrow at Te Aro Vic Uni, and I'll have some Phoenix/Football zines.
I've got a collection of my pixel art Phoenix kits from 07/09 to 25/26, paired with a bit of text about my thoughts on the kits, and how the season went.
I've also got some football kit concepts I designed for those who are into that.
So if anyone's interested in that, feel free to swing by! And if you do, let me know your username on here. Be nice to meet some people on here. 20250725_165257.jpg2.89 MB
