So I read that there might be a change next year to black and yellow stripes (I assume vertical). I play for Paekakariki and our dark strip doesn't help with seeing your teammates and have wondered if that is also a problem with the nix (perhaps why paekak & nix are at the bottom harumph!).

I agree entirely. Black is a useless colour for any side to play in, club side or prpfessional.
It does make a difference to how you pick out your team mates.

Compare this to a team in Red or White.

If you play under lights particularly, white is awesome.

Can anyone think of a successful football team that wears black? Though Melbourne wears quite a dark navy blue

Statistically the most successful football teams wear red

The problem though is playing in Australia in summer with a black strip is alot worse then playing in England in winter with a black strip.wellyphoenixfan2008-11-01 12:22:58

I personally dont have a problem with the Nix playing in their current strip, then again i dont have to play in that strip

I havn't bought the current strip simply because I don't like it enough to shell out $100+ for one. Would consider an away shirt if I could get one thet fits me but now I'm happy to wait until next year's one is released (if it is indeed stripes).

In answer to lack of successfull teams playing in black, until the 90s it was prohibited by FIFA which is the reason we have the AWs and not the Football Blacks or some silly name for a football team in black.
Supporter world's best and worst football teams: Waikato/WaiBop, Kingz, Knights, Phoenix, The Argyle, The Whites & the All Whites

Because black is traditionally reserved for referees IIRC, and we all know how successful they are

Why not just simply YELLOW?

Please stick to the topic. We're discussing the uniforms, not the team.

If we continue to play as we did on Sunday then the new strip will be a Knights circa 2006 kit.

Will we be getting a new kit because the Reebok deal the FFA has expires, or will we just be allowed a new set of designs?

I think the first team to play in black were Manchester United, who gained special dispensation from the FA. That was when referees started wearing yellow and other such colours, about '95 if I remember correctly. A little off topic, I know. I like the current strip, but I'd probably buy a striped shirt as well, if we could inject a bit more character into it

If it's character in fitba' strips yer after, check out my avatar......

Personal thing: Where I come from soldiers, coppers and bus drivers wear uniforms. Football teams wear strips/kit.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Napier - I think you'll find that the all blacks play Rugby! or Rugby Union to be more precise, they are not nor will they ever be a FOOTBALL team!

The Reebok deal will still be in place for the next season.
