I thought that was the aim in a game of football - to out score the opposing team  ... !
 
 
That's not really something an unheralded expansion (somewhat) team can rely on. As a new team it is highly unlikely that they will be able to dominate teams offensively, so a good keeper is vital to keep them in games. Auckland City are obviously a dominant force in the NZFC but the 'nix have a lot more to prove to get to that position.

When have you seen Nick Tarrant play Wodger?  What's your criticism?  He's been the outstanding keeper in the Central League so far from all accounts.

Jacob will not sign a pro contract as he wants to go to college in the states on a scholarship. If he signs a pro contract he can not then do that

^^ he should wake up, the Nix would be way better opportunity career wise, sure college in the US would be an awesome experience - don't get me wrong, but surely he wouldn't turn down a pro contract especially with Paston and Moss breaking down all the time. Rocky2007-06-16 16:27:17

how can you say that. He would be third choice and get game time only when the two in front are injured. Go to college get an education play as a first choice, hopefully at one of the top schools then gain exposure throughout the states and europe. college in the states is about more than the experience it will set him up for the future and get him better exposure

Rocky you need shooting. Sign a contract for a new team and get 0 minutes game time or win a scholorship which could see him picked up in the MLS, which is now a gateway into the EPL

Bingo. If you want a football career dont stay in NZ, unless you know some reall powerful people.
 
If he has the chance to be picked up in the MLS then no hesitation on his part i assume.

Good luck to him if hes going to the States if the football doesnt work out for whatever reason he will still have his education to fall back on. We all know that starting at the US can be a help, Simon Elliot and Ryan Nelsen being perfect examples.

he can do what he wants and we'll see how things pan out for him, it would be good to have a keeper in the MLS or EPL if hes that good

Been outstanding this year in central league for the Rangers. Local lad so wouldn't cost too much and a great reserve to Patsy and Moss

Phil Imray has conceded 4 goals in the 10 league games Wests have played this season. With a back 4 of Broadhurst, Chiet, Smith and Wilson in front of him - not to disrespect that back 4 (they are top of the league after all) but come on.......Big Phil all the way, pity he's a Villa fan!

Phil Imray is one of the best keepers in the country, his only sticking point is that hes not the greatest kicker of the ball off the deck.....a Chilavert he is not!

He's a great keepoer and is still very young as keepers tend to mature about 30 (if ever, lol). His kicking is a weakness but training full time with some good coaching will help that a bit. He'll never have the kick of Robinson but will still be a great asset to the Nix, and being the TW number is a no brainer now SJ is at the helm.
Go the Nix, go TW.

Its no longer a problem.
