I just heard CCM were bribed by an Indian Syndicate to ease up on us - lucky for us.

Even if we could just pass to our players feet more often than we pass to theirs it would be nice. Its pretty basic stuff whatever style of football is being played - yet it seems absent in the teams skill set, as does winning the ball in the air (or pretty much anywhere else). Pretty much every 50:50 ball in the air was won by CCM. How can that be? There are two teams.

You can't blame the coach or the football style (whatever it is reorted as being) for something as basic as that.

Answer this question.....how many football coaches globally would keep their jobs after a season like this?

One - his name is Ricki Herbert, apparently the only coach in a country of 4.5million people.

the nation's entire footballing knowledge resides between herbert and morgan

we, of course have no idea because we're not loaded and going through male menopause

That was worse than Sydney.

We are awful. We've spent our salary cap poorly, and we've made it worse by failing to even organize the talent we have got.

Absolutely correct.

At the moment we are barely HAL material, and yes a good manager would get more from our players but I don't beleive we will get to see another manager given the chance for at least 2 more years.

It will have to be an overseas coach. Some-one who can get as far away from Herbert's influence as possible. (his roles with NZF and AW's and pulling the strings in every direction)  Only then will the Phoenix start challenging.

There are one or two people on here that have grasped the problem, but most have ranted about what a disgrace and no effort etc and bagged players but the real reason is that across the board the players we have are not good enough.

All season most have bagged Paston saying he has coast us games, when if fact (and tonight is a good example) he has saved us time after time. Tonight could have been 8 were it not for him. I've nothing against Moss, but 'if it ain't broke. why fix it'

One of the things that was so obvious tonight and I have mentioned this for years is that we just don't have any pace. There are exceptions, Fenton, Boyd but this is where we get exposed all the time.

I was angry tonight but I at least accept that we were beaten by a far superior team and until we get rid of the baggage we have we will never be able to compete with the top sides.

Sure Paston made some cruicial saves tonihgt, but he is a massive part of organising the back four/five if you add Lia. If he and durante can't get the defence sorted then naturally we will conceed goals, some of the goals we have conceeded have been down to poor defensive organisation, which Paston must accept some blame - it is broken, wither we cahnge the back four or replace Paston.

good points leggy, but i think it's ok to bag players who neglect the basics week in and week out and then reach for their thumbs when the going gets tough

limited ability i can handle to a degree, but there's no excuse for a lack of bottle, especially from a bunch of fuckers who think they're pretty tough

I don't know why that's so funny, but it made me lol. The football must be shit if we start talking about post numbers HAHAHAHA !

Paston was rooted for one goal, let one ball go right across his 6 yard box, and was nutmegged for another? Hardly a sensational performance, time for the bench and ultimately retirement.

I think you are dreaming because the team we have is not good enough to be in the top four.
Am not defending Ricki, just being realistic.

This is why we need a new coach. Ricki is going to stay with the same players, we need someone whos not going to be biased with selection. A brand new coach to the A-League would be good, someone who doesnt know any of the squad and will make correct and accurate choices on who should really be playing based on actual talent and ability, not just based on who has always been playing.

The formation had zero balance to it. Lia has been mediocre at best all season and is now expected to be a one man defensive dynamo? Ifill looks a good 10kgs over weight. I'm angry and something has to give. This was sign posted prior to the kick off with such a reckless formation and no shape or balance and Ricki cannot defend this performance. Tomorrows media will give a telling insight to his mindset and how he views this game.

Muscat was in 1st gear

Hogg relied on his speed too much

Lia was a leaky DM

Fenton needs far away from this league until he can look up, pass and pass first time.

Ifill is not fit. Start busting your ass to get fit or go play in some other retirement league.

Brockie plays when he wants to

Stein is not used in a manner that befits his skills

We have 3 imports that must not be resigned next year and we play a kid from Waikato whom is just a smaller version of Fenton but has only 1 foot.

We are a flawed team and its now gotten quite bad. The last 6 rounds cannot come quick enough.

I wonder if Paston needs a "rest"  Its true that he made a couple of decent saves tonight but his kicking was pretty poor and innacurate, either going straight into touch or direct to a CCM player. His whole demeanour before the rout started appeared to be fairly not interested, dropped shoulders, no real energy about his game at all....we have a decent second keeper lets use him for a while

Boyd has been crap and Fenton hasn't been far behind. Overrated. If they were not young Kiwis, more would agree with that.

We get a beating so everything is wrong - don't buy it. However if this was an English football team we'd have welcomed the new manager a while back and the new one would have a few games under his belt already.

If that is the best 1st team we have, I dread to think what the rest look like at training. Beginning to think we don't train.

Can't pass unless it either goes out or to the other team.

Look unfit and lack pace.

Can't jump

Have no idea on basic tactics.

Have the players had a major bust up with each other, lacking that fighting spirt, the nix are known for.
