After watching last nights game (if I was not convinced before) I reckon we have some of the best fans on this planet.
For all you guys that turned up in those shocking conditions ---- I salute you all

Top effort. Though it was lucky it didn't rain that much before the match. Colvinator2010-01-16 18:55:33

Being in the Fever Zone during a southerly isn't too bad - the rain goes over your head. It's walking out onto the concourse at the end that is almost suicide.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The rain started smack on kick off time. thanks for the compliment. Was awesome to see so many shirts off. Even down in front of the commentary area, there were two kids about 8-10 who took their shirts off. Classic influencing I guess.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The walk to the nearest pub was horrendously wet and cold. Most brutal walk out of stadium I've experienced.

Yeah, that's the real trick to being in the Fever Zone, with a Southerly, and the high roof, the rain all ends up down the away-supporters end :)

Though last night the rain was circling around in the stadium, quite a few of the lads down the front had their shirts off.

Heroic effort from the Fever Zone!

Colvinator, another mate and I managed to round up around 30 guys from work (almost all footy virgins) to go to the big game last night.

At half time I thought they were going to leave! Thankfully the impressive performance and electric atmosphere after the break may well lure them back to the Ring of Fire on Fri 12 Feb.

Footy fever is spreading.

After the match a couple of them were talking about being keen to come quite a lot more. Good times.

brought a Newbie along last match.  A rugby nut, who would happily bad mouth the Nix every chance he got.

Despite the weather and the first half, he may well be back for the mariners.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

baught along the mrs, who had only previously been to rubgy games, first off she was like football fans are crazy, but after half time, she was singing along and was into it. Said it was 10X better then a rubgy game

we were in isle 23. revving up those outside the fever zone to get in on the chants. great times. lost my voice 2 weeks in a row. absolutely fantastic chanting for dadi as he was walking off. the whole stadium cheering and on their feet for him. massive!

we were in our usual aisle 21 spot surrounded by the usual crowd. the atmosphere at the last game was one of the best I have evr witnessed from the fever (i have been to every game bar 1 for the last two seasons).

we have the best fans in the league without question. Despite the sh*t weather and the shocking first half play everyone was still cheerful at half time.

Yellow fever = legends!

I think the chanting and atmosphere is always better in crap weather.  Element of gallows humour to it!

JT was hooked and said the Fever were mad with our all our singing and our shirts off.....

Never ceases to amaze me how many rugby heads are bowled over by the FZ and general crowd support when they first experience it.

They really are two different cultures (rugby and football supporters) here in NZ.  I guess footy supporters are less afraid of showing their emotions (anger, frustration, joyous delerium) and the whole crowd/tribe vibe.

Would be a little different in UK I expect (e.g. Twickenham and Cardiff).

OK.  Maybe starting to stray from the topic but say the nix made the grand finals for two or three years in a row and support was riding high.  Massive 15-25k crowds, a big FZ, a "rival" group on the West side, etc.

Would rugby matches in Wgtn start to adopt the same crowd behaviour and then filter out to the rest of the country?

Edit: Or are we the dogs b#llocks and no one can touch us?

A bit of meteorological humour there.

Got back to Akl the next day and it was hot & humid. Too uncomfortable to sleep, and wished I was back in Welly... (well in the ROF where it was dry-ish)

Well done Guys, a great atmosphere....
