Wonder if Stevie T would have a word with Jack Colback? He's publicly admitted he's unlikely to get a look in again at Newcastle, and has been loaned out over the past 18 months. Due off contract at the end of the month

Jason Pine Tweet.

The Wellington Phoenix will announce their latest signing this morning. He'll be on @radiosportnz with me after 11.

If Fenton and Cacace stay a) fit and b) at the Nix I'm not sure we need to be using an import slot on a fullback or wingback, would only really be looking for backup in that area given they were two of our best last season.

It is Marinovic.

Good news

2 year contract

Happy that's over the line - and Gothard isn't going anywhere.

There we go. That should perk up the mood amongst the troops here.

We're going to win the league...

Also looks likes Paul Gothard is staying:

"The kiwi International is looking forward to being in a familiar environment, having worked with Paul Gothard in the All Whites setup.

"The whole time I have been involved with the All Whites, I’ve had Paul Gothard as a coach so the chance to work with him again is one I’m really looking forward to."

Scratch that. PG also just confirmed on twitter that he's staying at the Nix.

It'll be that Perth youth player mention either earlier in this thread or I've seen on twitter.

I always thought Colback was a CM/DM able to fill in at fullback

Don't know where he is, but his plan was to wait for the birth of his (second?) child before making any decisions. Think the child was due in early June, so around now.

Having said that, I think chances of him staying here are reasonably remote.

I could easily be wrong. Not a Newcastle fan but I remember him a fullback. If he's actually a DM then I'd be far more open to it. Just can't imagine we can offer anything near what he'd demand in wages.

Read an article stating he was on GBP70, 000 a week which is about NZ$7mil a year. The article and comments said he was being overpaid but I doubt we would be able to stump up a tenth of that

Marinovic is still in the UK planning to arrive end of the month for pre-season. Had an interview with Piney today on Radio Sport just after 11

According to @SircarPrachya, Phoenix strikers Roy Krishna and David Williams have both signed to play for ATK in India.

I'm not surprised by this.

But they won't score near as many goals without having Singh to assist them.

with how many players are called Singh in their national team they've got good odds on still being assisted by a Singh, albeit not our good one

I'm actually a bit disappointed if this is true. Though I fully get the motivation to set themselves up financially. Both players are, I think, good enough to play in stronger leagues than the A-league, and it would have been good to see them test themselves at a higher level.  Though I know Willo has arguably been there, done that after his time in Europe before coming to Nix. Roy though - I was sort of hopeful we'd see him playing in Korea/Japan/MLS perhaps.

But, hey, both deserve their pay day - good on them too, if true.

in a strange way I don't mind people seeing us as a stepping stone to a poorer, richer league.

Might get a few more talents chancing there arm with the prospect of an Indian League payoff.

The Nix need to extract some sort of value though, whether that is a phenomenal season or a transfer fee.

I still think McKain is our only fee (?) but hopefully that can be rectified.

burns too, estimated at $1m to Tokyo. But yes I agree, I would be great to get transfer fees, especially when Cacace and Singh eventually leave. We used that burns money to get Barbarouses I think
