Too small! Like Messi, Maradonna and Pele ?

None of them play/played in the Bundesliga, Germany has a very physical league. Also, those 3 players aren't human, Singh has potential to be amazing, but its highly unlikely he'll reach the level of Pele, Maradona and Messi.

while it has never been mentioned, surely a transfer and a season loan back to the NIx is the ideal option

According to many here when Stefan was playing 3rd division Germany, it was a pub league

I'm sure one of the best clubs in the world wouldn't have signed him if they didn't think he could contribute, either in the Bundesliga eventually or the 3. Liga now

I'm feeling for Elijah Just now... he had a better u20 campaign and also probably could have been looking at some decent teams around Europe, but had already signed on to play 3rd Div in Denmark.

Agree. Was surprised that he locked in Denmark before the Cup. Callum took the option not to. Let’s hope they both have great seasons.  At this point I’m wondering what Nando’s next season holds in store.

This is great news.  Nit picky I know, but another report that Ole developed Ryan Thomas, wasn't he another Waikato product?

Sure so none of Pele, Maradonna and Messi would make it in Germany ? Maybe we should be sending some All Blacks locks over to trial surely they will have a better chance of making it in Germany

Declan's previous gigs and Ole are pretty much synonymous with each other at this point

Singh is signed to the Nix so being signed to the Danish club wouldn’t be a bar to better offers being made

According to many here when Stefan was playing 3rd division Germany, it was a pub league

Marinovic played 11 games in 3 Liga.

By far majority of his German career was in the 4th tier, which consists of about 90-100 clubs spread over the various regional leagues.

https://us.soccerway.com/players/stefan-marinovic/85012/

By the way according to Soccerway this is the current Bayern Muchen II squad. Contains obligatory German born young American.

https://us.soccerway.com/teams/germany/fc-bayern-munchen-ii/5523/

I note 18 yr old Canadian wunderkid Alphonso Davies (ex team mate of Marinovic's at Vanouver) got 6 starts last season, for the Bayern first team. Bayern paid € 10M for him.

Too good an opportunity to turn down, doubly happy if that's the fee involved too, just seems about right, although I doubt such information will actually become public knowledge.

Would be a guess, but something between $500,000 & $1,000,000 up front, which I think is fair considering the profile of the club. Would be a huge transfer for the A-League too. Add on clauses for X amount when he makes his first team debut and another clause for say when he makes his 100th first team appearance. I would say a sell on clause too, but if he makes it over there, he's already at one of the bigger clubs in world football, and they tend to keep players for a good portion of their careers, so don't know if there would be a point.

You guys keep forgetting that he's being signed to Bayern II. The current market value of that entire team is under 6mil Euro, and a third of that goes on the Korean winger who's already made appearances for the first team.

Just to give some context to this.

No forgetting, hence the addition of the clauses related to first team football & appearances. Did you think I was saying he'd be walking in to the first team fold? ?

I stand by my original post.

Bah! I wasn't too far off ;)

Anyway, will wait for an official announcement which I'm sure will come in over the next few days. Sad to see him go, but excited for what his future holds. A definite positive for our club that we can have players like this get picked up by one of the bigger clubs in world football (Yes I am aware the U-20 WC was also a good shop window)

What's that about us doing fudge all for the A-League, FFA?

Just out of interest, in our history how many players have we sold for an actual transfer fee? Singh to Bayern, Burns to FC Tokyo & McKain to Al Nassr? Think that'd be about it, not even entirely sure about McKain on that list either.

Bell has turned down the vikings, told them he wants to continue with his schooling in the US.

https://www.aftenbladet.no/sport/i/zGV8GK/Joe-Bell-takket-nei-til-Viking

Joe Bell declined the Viking

Try the player with surprising decision: Instead, want to continue with college football in the US.

SR-Bank Arena (aftenbladet): After training with Viking since Monday last week, and made a very positive impression, the U20 National player Joe Bell (20) received a contract with Viking.

The midfielder, who was recently impressed by the last WORLD in Poland, was in the stands when Viking lost 3 – 4 towards Bodø/GLIMT on Sunday. Opposite Aftenposten, the 20-year-old has spoken very positively about the club, the coaches and the possibility of becoming a Viking player.

But after reviewing the Vikings offerings and discussing the opportunity with his family, he has still now turned his thumb down for a transition. At least in the summer.

Will continue in the US

"He chose to prioritize the next half of the year in college. He felt the right thing now was to continue in the United States in terms of the important things he has there, said Bjarne Berntsen of Aftenposten.

The Viking coach claims that Bell only has good things to say about the club and that there was no talk of financial or contractual challenges. It is only about Bells ' own decision that this was not the right time to go to Viking.

– If he considers it different if there are other leagues on the pitch, I don't know. But his gut said it wasn't right to take the risk of moving to Norway now. At the same time, he has said that he hopes to remain relevant to us again until the fall again, into the next window, says Berntsen.

Now Viking has to see

Bells ' decision is undoubtedly surprising, all the time he seemed very leveraged to get to the Viking and also stated himself very positively about the possibility of obtaining a contract with the club

Viking was also preparing for a transition and, among other things, checking up in the formalities around training and similar with Bells ' former clubs.

Now they must instead look for a different midfielder.

– We've done all the way, we haven't hung up in one player. We deal with this in a good way, says Berntsen.

Joe Bell also offers from the only fully professional club in New Zeland, Wellington Phoenix. Bell is flashed up in Wellington's academy, but was not contracted there when he turned 18. Therefore, Bell jumped on the offer he received about full scholarship at the University of Virginia in the United States. There's Bell halfway through his four-year study course.

Several other clubs have also shown interest in Bell after the U20 World championships in Poland, among other German clubs. The same applies to several of his teammates who were eliminated by Colombia in the eighth finals of the World championships. Among other things, teammate Sarpreet Singh is at Bayern München now, but he hasn't written the contract there yet.

A shame - looks like he would have been a decent signing for us, and still at a good age.

The bright side - it shows we are looking at decent players.

Can the academies that are/were in partneship with those clubs (Wynrs/WPSS at Onehunga, Nix at Wgtn Utd) also try and claim those payments?

FIFA regulations talk very explicitly about clubs receiving training compensation and solidarity payments (unless the club/s involved cease to exist in the meantime). I guess it really depends on what the actual arrangements and fine print was in those set-ups, and I don't have any real understanding of that.

That's about 300k Euro, or basically week's wages for a couple of Bayern first team players.

I mean, great money for the Nix, but it's not exactly a heavy investment from Bayern.

Why? If you're referring to the licence issue, imports are often only on a one year deal anyway? I'd have thought it would actually be less of a big deal than for a NZ or Australian player looking for a bit more stability.
