I like Alan and have a few conversations with him over the years. He'll swear pumping the ball into their left or right back, put them under pressue and wait for them to make a mistake and capitalise is the best way to play. Unfortunately it only works in our domestic leagues where its generally accepted our players do not have a great 1st touch.


I'm reading a great book about the moment called inverting the pyramid it has a good chapter about the development of the English long ball game and how it just doesn't work at the highest level. It's well worth a read.

Gotta love the c'mon Phoenix chant. Big big hats off to those guys there. That's great support and it must sound great in the stadium. The fact that there is stuff all Sydney supporters there makes it feel like a home game.

in half an hour i haven't seen us complete a pass that wasn't a 5 yard square ball.

on the other hand our defending, and especially our tackling, has been pretty impressive
