Wow, it's not enough for him to be benched? You have to abuse him when he's not even playing? Pretty poor.

Not sure that constitutes 'abuse'?

Moss for PM!

I'm still miserable incidentally as I had what seemed like a crazy bet of $2.50 on Phoenix 3-1 at 50/1!!

But, pretty good performance, and makes you wonder what might've been this season.  If Ricki had been booted earlier...(couldn't resist!).

Sure it's nothing to do with another result on Friday ;)

It'll soon be you!
Lol ,we'll see !!

Burns came across well in the interview, I was a bit surprised considering how he usually plays. He didn't seem so dirty today either.

Never caught the match but well played lads. Avoiding the wooden spoon would be a decent result given all the shite that has gone on this season.

Moss saved us biug time, they could have scored 4 if not for his quick reflexes. Ifill and Nagai can fight for 2nd and thrid but Moss gets the 3 for me,

You could see how much that win meant to Greenie there at the end. He was fair bursting with pride.

Top effort and well deserved.

Do you think if you guys finish with a flourish and win your final game that Greenacre may be in with a serious shout of securing the post full-time?

It was a grand effort, you should be proud. Pleased Hoggy had a good game, interesting both he and Lochhead played. Maybe they can play together.

The club will probably keep him on as an assistant. If they are serious about developing talent and pathways, then having a spell under the new coach to learn and set up for a crack at probably being a Phoenix Head Coach sometime in the future is a good idea. Considering the investment in him so far and what he has produced for them, it could suggest he has some coaching talent. I mean he ditched the traditional DM player, played a LB at RB and then pinched points in Perth. That just sounds all kind of wrong.

Greenie himself has said not yet.

so I recall Moss with a great save after he made a weak punch straight out in front of his goal to set up the shot...?

That would be up to the new coach surely, not the Nix. Can't imagine they'd tell a new coach he's already got an assistant

yeah why not, a new coach may want to bring in his own assistant but if the encumbent is still contracted he can't just rip it up, same as any player on the books. When his contract expires however.

Did Greenie sign as assistant for two years?

Wow...JV I normally respect your posts but you can't seriously be suggesting that a club should insist on appointing a new coaches assistant? That never happens in football. The guy coming in will make his own choice....he may or may not chose Greenacre, but it is his call. Tough on Greenie but he could be out of a job in a months time. But thats reality in football.

I don't quite get all this "Greenie for head coach stuff". He had done OK and I don't want to belittle these achievements but really this is the easiest head coaching gig that he will ever have. For a start off he is under zero pressure. He got handed a hospital pass and so there was no expectactions..if he lost every game no one would have slagged him off. Secondly he has great support from his players. They are all his buddies, he was playing along side them last year. As Domey said the senior guys have all rallied around and helped get things back on track. I don't think we can underestimate the impact that senior guys like Ifill and Durante etc have had on our resurgence.

The Nix are in for some big changes. A big contingent of the playing side are on the wrong side of 30 and will need replacing in the next season or two. The club has signaled a playing philosophy that it wants to bed in with the new coach. We need a senior head coach who has the background and experiance to implement these changes.

As for Greenie...in my opinion he should punt for the assistants job. Then maybe later get a job as head coach of a ASB Premiership side....TW would be great. Then after a few year we can see if the potential he has shown in the last few weeks means he has what it takes to be a good head coach.

I'm not sure, either way Greenie will have to put his case forward - a new coach may want a new assistant or he may see the connection that Greenie has with the players as a positive

It can go either way, an incoming coach can be told who is staff are, or an incoming coach can be allowed to bring his own backroom staff in. Neither situation is particularly uncommon in world football, or even in the A-league.

I'm not saying they should insist he take Greenacre at all. I was of the impression that he has a 2 year gig and Welnix are on record and not spending one cent more than they have to. In that instant, a new coach inherits Greenacre. Also if you are about delevoping from within as Welnix have said, then that does kinda  fit in having a coaching pathway.
I think he has done some nice things but like all people new to things, you can get some down time (or in football, second season blues) Greenacre is on an upswing and he is doing well. I think he would be well to keep serving his apprenticeship under another coach and learn some new tricks and get experience. Also he is close to the team as he was a teammate. How will he fare with players where there is that buffer and he has not played with them. A lot of questions but I think he has shown enough to say 'yup. lets continue with this guy'

I'm not sure how I feel about coaches bringing their assistants in. It could be good, it could be bad, just don't really have a thought process on it and I am open to being swayed with good argument

One slight difference in the past few weeks is that the players look like they may care a bit again, which suggests RH may have well overstayed his welcome. Nothing like fresh blood to get things happening again, even if he has been there a few years.

No matter who comes in next year, I hope Greenie is around in some capacity. Maybe TW is a good idea if he can't keep the ass role

Have never really had a problem with Ricki, but I think your comment is spot on.
The last 3 games are proof that he should have gone months ago.
