What do you mean 'good chances in open play'? Tap ins? There have been a few balls across the box but Greenacre is never there. He missed a free header etc. Like I said, he works hard but i'm not sure how he adds to our attack.  To be fair to him, he is basically playing as a lone striker a lot of the time and I think his lack of attacking opportunities could probably be put down to that.

I think our real problem is that we're still missing that Hernandez/Miller-type player in the middle of the park though.

His name is Paul Ifill

Huh? Ifill is a winger

No he's a striker, . He would be far better off in the centre  and feeding two actual strikers.

I wonder what its like to be in a club with no fans. Someone should ask Shane.

Yeah that made me laugh 4000 people. I thought Brisbane had a bad supporters club but boy oh boy Gold Coasts supporters were crap. Like you said Oh Wellington was drowning them out.

Good stuff from Turf singing away, although the wife next to him looked none to happy,(might be something to do with it being her birthday so Vickmeist said?)

He isn't. Anyone can see that. And he certainly isn't a ball playing CAM. (though he would probably still do the best job there out of anyone in our squad - though we don't play with CAM's anyway)

I think the problem is that we rely heavily on wide play - almost exclusively - going forward and there is no one to get on the end of the crosses.

Has Ifill ever played CAM in his career? I doubt it. Why would we put him there now? He's a naturally wide player.

Hes a naturally gifted player.
If you want service to two Strikers, he's your man.

no, he is a striker. but he has been put out on the wing in the last club he was at.

Good stuff. 1 Nix fan > 200 GCU supporters.

Hopefully Mr Smeltz will realise that when he jets over in his leather seated plane in a few weeks time.

Judas had one shot the entire game according to Fox Sport. HA!

Actual attendance was only 4205 - Clive Palmer took up four seats by himself

Hence the need to play two strikers.
Forget calling it cam if you like.

FOX went with Bertos, Durante, and Ifill in that order for MoM

Ifill can do it in several positions, he just looked knackered tonight. He was sweating heavily after only a couple of minutes. Still showed his class though. At the end of 80 odd minutes he was completely buggered, couldn't even run I would have taken him off sooner. Tough choice when the bench is so weak though.  ForteanTimes2009-10-03 01:28:36

And where have you seen him for us most of the time? Oh yeah, on the wing..

Though he does try to cut in most of the time

Valeo is right, he is a winger. That doesn't mean he can't play at striker or CAM though, I would actually prefer him in the centre so he can create chances more easier.

Thought the ref did ok. I know you guys were crying out for yellows, but I think he let the game flow, and it all balanced out imo.

Not so much in this match he seemed to be in a more free central role.

You can tell that he can't sprint at the moment. A couple of times he had the chance to beat his man but decided to slow it down. His injury seems pretty bad and yet he still took the piss and waltzed through them at one point during the first half

agree with that. I was screaming out for a yellow or 2, but it was fun to see him let the game carry on.

They were fine imo. You're getting pedantic if you are going to criticise him for that. Caceres almost made the difference when he came on.

We don't - it's an international window. The AWs are in Bahrain, Aussie are playing the Netherlands. Round 10 is now a midweek between rounds 12 & 13.

Agreed. Like to see a game flow rather than card happy controllers stealing the limelight. Reckon he wasn't too bad. And both cards were warranted - Lia for a nasty tackle and Robson for a bit of handbags as reaction

true. he's better as an impact player, rather than a starting 11 player.

Daniel did well also.

Yip, reckon him playing central, close supporting two strikers would be the way to go.

yeah but then in the dying minutes he just strolled about when the likes of siggy et al were killing themselves to get the ball up the field.

Yeah I agree with this. Bertos on the left, Brown in the Centre and Lia on the Right. It is gonna be tough when McKain comes back. Drop Muscat? Maybe Lochhead, we need to stop protecting him.

Hold on, did we have him as a starting player in any game yet? Maybe he is actually better as a starting player but then where would you place him in the field and who do you drop? This bearing in mind that in the season so far, we have outplayed everyone except Newcastle and Adelaide.

With my mind, I was thinking a draw but my heart wanted a win.
