( to the tune of black eyed pees song i got a feeling)

i Have a feeling, that  friday nights gonna be a good night
That friday nights gonna be a goooood night
That friday nights gonna be a good good niight........

This is a big one, If we play like we did against adelade than Smeltz, Rees and co could be in for a hiding...

                                                Paston

Muscat                         Dura                     Sig           Loch

Caceres                              Brown                          Bertos

                                             Lia

                             Ifill                         Greencre
I think I would probably prefe in a positional sense for r Lia to replace brown, caceres to replace Lia, bertos to move to the right and put daniel on the left

Daniel is back!

Plus...
Herbert says star import Paul Ifill is still nursing a sore hamstring but will travel with the squad and is likely to play. But Herbert says Ifill could be pushed into more of a central role to partner striker Chris Greenacre up front.

----------Paston----------          Bench:
Manny-Dura-Sigs-Lochy          - Crowther
----------McKain----------          - Marco
Bertos--Brown--Caceres         - Daniel
-------Ifill---Greenacre--          - Lia

Gotta take the game to Gold Coast, take advantage of their weak defence. Get McKain to stick to Judas like glue and have Dura and Siggy mopping up. Brown with a license to get forward (hoping he's found his shooting boots) but making sure he gets back too.

I think I might put $10 on Phoenix to win...$5 on a 2-2 draw, and $5 on Gold Coast 3-0...cover all bases

Hmm, funny that Ricki's been telling us that Ifill already plays up front with Greenacre...!

Finally. i seriously think that this is all we need to do and we can start scoring. At the moment we've played one up top and Greenacre works his ass off on and off the ball but loses that support he needs.
With Ifill, there, we have two bodies to look up to and two players making runs will be far harder for the GCU defense to close down. Also, Greenacre has always been labeled as the 'feed-off-scraps' type of striker, and with Ifill's creativity in the middle of the box, we could see quite a powerful combo here.

Please please play 2 up front.

yeah he's claimed to play 3 up front, but thats really a 451. With Ifill central we will see the magic. Just you wait

I'm Pretty sure McKain is still out..

I agree with Rickii about Brown and Lia starting to play well togetyher so I would have Lia marking smeltz all the time.. Brown will need to close down Culina

Still...he's not been up front.

Hopefully tonight we see 2 up front...and hopefully we don't lose.

Not sure about playing Ifill if not fully fit, continuing to do this could lead to a longer term injury...although we have a 2 week break after tonight right?

fair call lol.. maybe the marking can be adjusted, but i personally think we need those two guys marked out of this game to have a chance, and even then Porter will be another danger man.

Maybe Lia marking Culina, and Sigmund on Smeltz

Round 7: Wellington Phoenix 1, North Queensland Fury 1, Westpac Stadium
Round 8: Wellington Phoenix 0, Central Coast Mariners 0, Westpac Stadium

Analysis:
Wellington makes its first-ever trip to the Gold Coast to take on the ladder leaders, knowing a win will see it catapulted in among the mix of teams currently vying for the top six. Ricki Herbert's team are coming off a run of four consecutive draws, three of which were at home, but need to get some wins on the board if they are to seriously challenge.

Gold Coast may be five points to the better of its rival this week, but has actually lost more games. Last week's defeat to Melbourne was its third in the past five weeks and its first ever on its home ground. After blazing a trail early, Gold Coast still finds itself on top, but is just two points clear of seventh-placed Adelaide.

What that means is that unless it turns around its recent poor run of form, which has yielded just four points from a possible 15 in the past five, then Gold Coast could find itself not only off the top of the ladder but out of the top six altogether.

The acid is certainly on Miron Bleiberg and his players, but they do get back Shane Smeltz for this match after he served his one-match ban. He is fit and firing to take on his former club in what should be an interesting sub-plot to an intriguing game. However, Steve Fitzsimmons will miss after being sent off against Melbourne, while Steve Pantelidis is also suspended.

It wasn't all bad news for the Gold Coast, and save for a late penalty, it would have got something against the defending champions. Joel Porter opened his Hyundai A-League account, while Jason Culina coolly converted a penalty. Golgol Mebrahtu looked dangerous in patches as well.

Bleiberg also gets back Robson and back-up goalkeeper Scott Higgins from injury, while former Melbourne defender Mark Byrnes has been called up along with James Brown and Steve Lustica. Two will drop out.

Robbie Bajic's time at the club has come to an end and Andrew Barisic is the other out. Zenon Caravella is another week away from returning with a hip injury, Tahj Minniecon should be back next week from Qantas Young Socceroos duties, Jefferson is three weeks away, while Daniel Piorkowski is out for long term.

Wellington has been very consistent, but Ricki Herbert needs his boys to find some killer instinct. The Phoenix have had chances to win all those past four games, but have failed to put them away and while their streak without home defeat has almost stretched to 12 months, they need to start picking up the maximum from those matches.

Herbert has often been praised for his attacking approach to away matches, and he will back his men to try and search for all three points in this match. But in the past few matches his most attacking and creative players have struggled to put their best foot forward. One of them, Leo Bertos, signed a three-year deal earlier this week, which will be a boost.

There is just one change for this match with Daniel back after taking a week off and Marco Rojas making way. Jon McKain will miss another three weeks with a quad injury.

Costa had better repay the faith in the bench spot. But with the over supply of underperforming midfielders, it was only a matter of time before Marco (POLO!) and Costa got game time.

There has always been a lot of talk about Costa on the forum...he is now getting his chance, so let's hope he can perform if he gets on tonight.

Rojas has to be happy with his first couple of performances though

We can say that in RL they would not score that goal as FIFA 10 does not take into account keepers (Pastons) organisational skills.

unless you are taking the pss I loathe you even more now. As Hard News will tell you - betting against a team you supposedly support is my pet hate (and dont come back with some strategic win-win babble)
