his profile in Indonesia would suggest that he's good with the fans

and saw him talking to some fans after the match, smiles alround

Were there many Indonesians there at the game that you saw talking to him after the game - just a guess based on what you might think a typical Indonesian looks like?

I told a few Indonesians to get out to the game for some emotional blackmail but not sure if they turned up

But yes, ultimately I want what is right for the club (and I have every faith that the team management will decide based on the same criteria).

was trying to avoid stereotyping

but, based on guesswork, yep looked like 7-8 of his possible country folk (couple of families maybe)talking to him after the match   tigers2010-08-07 22:16:31

I figured that - well done that man

Cheers for the answer. I thought that getting some local Indonesians along might help emotionally blackmail him into feeling some attachment for this city and country. Not sure the weather helped do that though!

It's a bit sad that his trialling seems have all been a bit sh*t. A few training sessions, then part of a game at a Ring of dirt??

By the way if he signs, I'm seriously going to explore Wellington transfer options....

I noted a couple with baby behind me during first half so briefly engaged and I got impression they were there to see him..via smiles pointing across field and a few words from me only.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Yes indeed there were! Including one very nice family in customary dress, with lots of children, they were taking photos with hm at the end of the game so I helped out by taking a couple of group shots .. as you do!

You should have told me your friends were going, I would have formally introduced myself!!

Club..he didnt lok that keen for someone who had 20 mins to shine..didnt hear him cal once for it whereas Toto was grunting away all the time and running around and defending also.  Bambang had  afew good touches but just didnt put his heart into it for me..so club will say no for my money.
Bambang was waving his arms around trying to get other players attention when they had the ball I thought they might fall off, perhaps you were too far away or maybe at the wrong ground to see it.

I agree with your comments - personally I think he will slot into the squad a damn sight better than toto will - I saw the game and I told toto a couple of times to shut up as he was barking god knows what all through the game - presumably calling for the ball even though others were often in better positions.. but if your playing along side him it would be hard to ignore the constant blaber coming out.

Phew. Great that you were there  to help...
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

whew - i can count - just misinformed about the first half
5-1 then

loved toto constantly looking for the ball and using his full english vocabulary = "hey hey" - that seemed to be it - plus some hand waving

he looked like he was enjoying the run, gave some kids near us a smile and a wink

the confusion may have come about because Brownie missed an open goal after beating the defence and the goalie in the first half. It would have been the opening goal.

He'd got past the goalie and about 5-6 yards away from goal and gave the ball a nudge towards the goal and turned to celebrate his goal. Unfortunately the ball hit the big muddy puddle directly in front of the goal line and stopped dead, allowing the keeper to rescue it while the unknowing Brownie was running back to the centre spot. Since it was a pre-season "friendly" it was pretty funny.  Drew a friendly laugh from the crowd. He was quite confused when he realised the game was still being played.

Suggest he be named "Muddy" Brown for that one.
