Think its very harsh for some of you to blame Musa for their goals, there are others in that defence who share the blame. Was surprised at what seemed from a distance little chat or encouragement for him at times.

The Nix looked pedestrian until Ifill's goal and Rojas' introduction sparked things up a bit. Must admit I missed the first 25 minutes of the game though.

Surely Rojas has earned a start, or at least more than 10 minutes game time. He looked great and his energy added an element the Nix have lacked.

Lost count of the number of times Hearfield lost the ball when trying to beat an opposition player. He had an okay game but he ain't no Ifill.

Musa seems like an adequate option if the Nix are missing a back-line player, but can't see him keeping anyone else out of the starting lineup. Wish he had a bit more outright pace.

Both goals came down the same channel (between Dura/Musa) and they targeted it all game.

Just a bit of ball watching - he'll learn. One of the goals was scored because he didn't step up into the defensive line - would've been offside. Showed he could get back and cover very well when he stopped Kruse from scoring.

Still think he's a good prospect. Has lots of natural attributes - just needs to read the game a bit better but that'll come in time.valeo2010-11-28 17:42:47

I have just watched the second goal replayed several times.
Yeah the ball was played in behind Musa, but look at what was happening on the other side.
Hearfield had two attackers to mark, and he seemed oblivious to either of them, and hence was flatfooted and nowhere near the cross when it came.

And on the first goal, I reckon Muscat was at least as much to blame as Musa. Musa had two to mark and went inside. Muscat wasnt aware of the run round the back from Thompson.

That's true, the first goal he failed to step up. Second goal would be harsh to hang on him though. It was a beautifully worked goal but when you look at the replay one can only wince at the sight of Hearfield stopping to watch, then his almost comical reaction as the penny drops that he has let Kruse saunter away from him for the tap in.

Not good.

I don't know why people are trying to hang Musa with the "not ready for this level" tag. sh*t, people say that about Siggy all the time, and he's cleared a sh*tload of ball from the box when we've been scrambling.

Musa was nervous - it was his first start in the A-League FFS. Of course he's going to be nervous.

Give him a few more games. He's got the skill, he held up Kruse just about every time it was 1-on-1.

And while Rojas was attacking down the far end of the field from the YF, you could see that his attack was causing Muscat some nervous moments.

Both should start against Sydney.Ard Righ2010-11-28 20:38:13

Were there any chants of "Who are ya" last night? I couldn't remember any and would surely be a first.

Don't believe so. There could have been some just before halftime.
Thought the chanting was better on Wednesday then it was on Saturday.

Everyone would love a young kiwi to come in and be great straight off the bat but to put the blinkers on and not see the mistakes he made is a bit silly. If Hearfield got cut up as bad as Musa did in that first half everyone would be going nuts.

Think that Musa showed what he was about in that 2nd half though - especially tracking back to stop Kruse. Great stuff. Still think that Hearfield/North at full back against Sydney is probably the better option.valeo2010-11-28 23:34:53

Mabe the better option, but giving musa some more time wouldnt be a bad idea either. Its only Sydney FC!

musa did ok, certainly looked the strongest player we've ever had at the back when defending the crosses and high balls. He got soundly beaten with the first goal, sand the second one he did well to cover his man, how Robbie managed to walk through our central defenders ujnnoticed I do not understand.

Ideally Musa would have been given some time to ride the pine before being thrown in the deep end. But Ricki won't make changes until they are all but forced on him so what can you do? For a very raw kid on debut it could have gone worse, i would like to see them stick with him as he shows quite some potential. And his long throw could be useful into the box

Musa got stiched up, badly, several times. And he was nervous. Naturally.

He did however close down a number of attacks, including the one just before he was subbed off. He looked good distributing the ball forward and set Ifill free several times. His throw was good and he was good in the air. Better than good in the air, actually.

The way he was repeatedly caught out by diagonal balls behind him were a VERY big concern, but that is something that they can work on and imrpove. I thought Dura did a great job of supporting, encouraging and lambasting Musa when needed. I think Musa is a genuine prospect... certainly more work to be done, but promising. I was pleased that they he got a run and I am sure he learned a lot. Looking forward to him developing more.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Rojas' introduction was great. Don't ignore the impact Greenacre had when he came on. He was superb and the spark he added, the chances that were created with him and Ifill working together, with Ward and Brown and Rojas and Hearfield buzzing around them... that was exciting to see.

Not a bad effort for a kid who was playing for Wanganui Athletic's sh1thouse U19 team 12 months ago.

Kudos to Jonathan Gould for plucking him out of nowhere at that tournament last October.

If they were produced with a view to being sold at RYOS and/or the club store (or whereever is appropriate and politically digestable given whatever relationships are and are not in play) approximately how much would they be? (Interested to see if it would be something people would consider buying...)

If it could be done (with the Phoenix's blessing perhaps?) it would be awesome to see a couple of hundred of them throughout the stadium...

You're asking someone who spent $1200 on a 4metre x 4metre Football Kingz/Bloc 5 flag (hence bwtcf - Brandon with the chequered flag.)

I like flags.

I'm as keen as a very keen thing, but I should not be the litmus test for this as I am a bit of a flag nut ball...

I've seen that flag.  Legendary!!

Would be neat to get some more and we have a vague plan (all our plans are vague) to invest in more over the coming seasons.

Be nice if people stopped nicking/losing them.

I was thinking about altering the Kingz flag... putting a Nix logo where the Kingz one is, and changing the black and white chequers to yellow and black... Probably keep the bloc 5 logo for history's sake...

You would think so.  We suspect there is a 6th one somewhere at the Bencher.  One got nicked the first night we had them, and the other one was last seen in the possession of a short, sober shop owner of our acquaintance.

After reading some of the negative comments on these forums post match I am eternally grateful that we have Ricki coaching the side (although I am frustrated by some of his actions at times)and not one of those airheads. I honestly think I must have attended a completely different match to some of you.
Thank goodness for the balance of reasoned debate and analysis.
