Lia ====================> Caceras

Agreed, but two very different positions.

How confident are we of winning this one?  A (very possibly unwise) option would be to start the match without Lia.  He has 7 yellow cards.  Adelaide are one of the worst teams.  If we look like winning keep him off, but if absolutely necessary bring him on and risk the yellow.

As I said it could prove very bad, but if it worked and we had Lia for a much tougher game then Adelaide then Ricki (me) would be considered a genius.

Might as well drop Durante and Brown too then.. Start Ferrante at CB and Diego a Mid

If they get booked it's only one match out.  If Lia is booked it's two games (according to someone the other day anyway).

Nah.  Need Ferrante to play as a target man.  Ifill can fill in at CB.

Forgot about Lia.  That changes things.

Back to the drawing board.

Damnit, I was liking the look of that line-up and can't think of a way I fully agree with to bring Lia into the starting line-up.  But he does need to be there.

EDIT:
                   Reddy
             McKain    Durante
Hearfield                         Lochhead
                Lia
                        Brown
Bertos
                                      Ifill
       Caceres
                           Costa

Bench:
Crowther
Daniel
Chen (need attacking option)
Diego/Ferrante - Would probably lean towards Ferrante.  He is a stronger player.

The main thing I agree with here is that we will be lined up 2-8-0 again.  Toot toot!

So Daniel and Caceres not only drop out of the starting XI, but out of the entire matchday squad.  Meantime, Chen comes from less than nowhere into a starting spot.

TBH I can see Caceres dropping out of the squad. But Chen is not the replacement, for sure.

You watch "Johnny" score an accidental but perfect hat-trick now that you have said that Harry.

Half our team deserves to be dropped after Sydney, but wholesale changes wont make it better.

Give Lia a word, same sh*t on you'll be riding the pine to get him going again.

Caceras can go, does very little and go back to 442 with Ifil upfront and Costa running off him. Ifil could really put some killer balls in behind for him i imagine.

Put Mulligan on the bench for defensive and midfield cover, had an arse season last year, but i think deserves another chance.

We have such a sh*t record at Hindmarsh I'm not confident at all.

The question is:
Is Hindmarsh > Nix ability?

One game last season, Smeltz scored in the first 20min and we ended up losing 4-1. Diego will be eager to play against his former club

Yup....at Hindmarsh we have never taken a point....conceded a total of 13 goals and only scored a couple. Plus we have never beaten Adelaide. Adelaide have been shiite this year but they still have a number of good players.
I supppose we have to be a little more confident this time. sydney and melbourne are easily the two best sides in the comp. We drew with melb and fought out a tight 0-1 with Sydney. We should do better against the bottom team.

Good news that Ricki is freeing up ifill to do some more wide roaming stuff. That is where he was most effective. Costa will be doing the loan ranger upfront job that Greenie normally does. Very happy about that!!!

With all the injuries and suspensions we are on the back foot. Times like this some teams fold up and die...others rally around and put in the effort. Sure hope we get the win this weekend. If not then we will be at the arse end of the comp by Xmas.

Should he not be keen to play!

Adelaide have been sh*te this year- yes. We have been sh*te the past few weeks. We have several players out from injury, an unsettled lineup and two chances for players to get suspended. Not to mention our horrible away record, never got a point at Hindmarsh and to cap it all off we have never beaten Adelaide in 10 attempts.

However, this is definitely a game we could and should win. Just feel some people on here are a little too confident- like resting Durante ffs.

Good call playing Costa up front. Its good to hear Herbert understands Ifill needs to be wider, but I don't know if we want to isolate Costa up front this game.. ?

Hopefully costa can do one better than his last game against Adelaide and pinch a brace. (better start those dreams soon kid!)

has 1 up front ever worked this season?

depends what you mean by "worked"?

but the answer is still no.
Thats why I vote Ifill and Costa up front. Even if Ifill drops back at least maybe costa will have a chance

depends i guess. If ifill drops back to often and leaves costa by himself to deal with high balls it'l be another week of costas not good enough posts.  Fingers crossed it works out. Would love to see costa and troy up front with ifill in behind running the show.

Don't like Troy up front too much though to be honest. Feel like it would be the same outcome as playing Bertos up front. But I get where you are coming from. If Ifill gets more of a free role and we have two quality strikers up top then we could do some damage.
But for me, Hearfield is NOT the right move. He could well become a truly devastating fullback

I hope he does. like u say bar that the cupboard is bare. Ifill and costa do seem to link up well together so maybe its gonna be a good move.

Fixed

I would say the results over the last few seasons speak for themselves.

agreed we have to have two up[ front, I really don't care who it is  as long as they work hgard and give Ifill options and room to work some magic!

Just for the Nix, or in general? Because I really hope you're referring only to the Nix...

But meh. Costa will need some support up front.

Hearfield up front and Leo to right back?? did get us to the world cup with 2 games there...though he's bound to be horrified at the thought.
