Yep, good result imo. Will have to wait for a write up on the game to comment because obviously don't know if we played well or not, though.

Wonder if Kosta played well?

good result in front of the Tron masses

hopefully we played some good football in getting the win

be good to have some more northern fans to wing down for some of the matches and to put pressure on the media for ever-improving news coverage

there are usually a few Tronites on here during the season anyone at the match got a report??

Good result,  looking forward to some match reports to see how the trialists have gone.  Also looking forward to Kosta having a great year (apart from against us of course)

Good crowd considering many people in the Tron would have been playing Football at the time (my local team tried to get their game postponed but was refused by Rotorua.)

Ifill, Greeny and Big Mac worked in well together, Daniel was quiet but did nothing wrong and tracked back well.

Lia was good in the middle, Diego was terrible, Manny at the left back did well. Troy made his typical couple of mistakes that his pace covered, but on the whole was good. Siggy solid, and Durante picked up right where he left off at the end of last season, an absolute rock.

Musa came on at left back, made a couple of good challenges and didn't look out of place, Lovemore came on up front, created a couple of chances and inspired a chant of "sign him up" from the zone - should be our final youth signing, and Magno didn't particularly make an impression.aitkenmike2010-07-10 16:53:22

got to the tron for the afternoon. Nice turn out!

Quite impressed with Big Mac, sweet powerful shot from the edge of the box like a bullet past Theoklitos.

Ifill looking like the Ifill we know and love, chasing lost causes and reaping rewards.

Thought Lia was pants today, I know he can do much better though.

Greenie much the same unfortunately, which is a shame because he's a lovely guy but just didnt really do that much.

James Musa made mature decisions and didnt look out of place at all.

Magno Vieira made some nice dribbles but didnt have the same service that others did in the first half. I think we can do better...

Sean Lovemore looked really promising as a utility/striker got stuck in, had a good turn of speed and was comfortable running at defenders, hate to say it but much similar style to Robbie Kruse in terms of gameplay. Good if it's for us though.

Durante really solid at the back great tackles and lead the backline like a captain should.

Diego was Diego, nothing extraordinary - man, he's packed on the beef.

Daniel made some amazing crossfield passes and hussled well.

Siggy didnt let Costa get a sniff.

Troy and Manny were both a little off the pace and Manny playing at left back in which he got done a couple of times - put him at DM.

Great to see the boys out again, bring on the season!

Yeah I agree with the other match reports. Not a bad crowd as well, although vuvuzelas are more annoying in person than on the tele, even though there only about three or four. If anyone reading this was blowing one today, you are officially a twat. But the joy of seeing my beloved Nix again, in the Waikato, with a good crowd, on a great day, made it worth the drive! Bring on the season!

BRILLIANT day out. Excellent crowd size, heard on the radio back to Tauranga it wa ~9000. For a pre-season match, whereas the Kingz three regular season matches added up to ~5,500...we're not Auckland anymore! Was a great feeling walking towards the stadium seeing lots of people in Phoenix gear, talking to the locals and hearing their excitement. Fever Zone ended up selling out but I managed to sneak in, and the WEL Stand was opened too (IIRC originally only Brian Perry and the Green Zone were to be opened).

Crowd was loud the first half but died off the second, failing to rise for "stand up for the Phoenix", but given their numbers I can forgive them...for now. The Zone was brilliant, met some top blokes include aitkenmike and Sloth from here. Security guard seemed uniformed and tried to tell us to sit down, but after I took him aside and explained it to him, he checked and then gave us the go-ahead. Chanting was sporadic and a little off time but still a bloody good effort, when we were active we were almost as good as Wellington's crowds. I'd have that zone in the Ring of Fire anyday.

Sean Lovemore did very well, I wouldn't be surprised to see him earn a youth contract. We did a chant of "sign him up" for him that seemed to redirect towards Ricki, who received a lot of well-deserved praise from us. Paston got the biggest cheer of the squad announcement, Kosta was cheered on too (he had a decent game but nevertheless, wrong team!). Team got a bit tired towards the end but that'll be sorted before regular season. Magno didn't stand out IMO.

Wouldn't mind seeing Hamilton get our outside-Wellington match next season instead of Christchurch, top effort by the locals (including, tbf, the Aucklanders who came down).

Haha that would have been me, sorry for not introducing myself! Loved your work, you were one of the more proactive chanters in an otherwise sporadic zone

How old is Lovemore and is he a Kiwi?  Also, what position?

Can't wait for some high-lights to be put up.  Sounds like Hamilton did well, congratulation guys.  Happy with a win, and I certainly hope Kosta does well in Queensland.

Think he's an 17 or 18 year old Kiwi but don't quote me on that

No worries. This is only my second Nix game, but an avid forum reader, so I know the words but have to pick up the tunes by osmosis. :) My favourite chants from today would be "We've got the best crossbar in the league", and "You're just a suburb of Auckland" (yeah, great move, get us lynched on our way out guys!) Of course, I was really tempted to follow "stand up for the Phoenix" with "sit down if you've shagged a cow"...

Oh yeah, and there was a football game. It got kind of slow and sloppy in the second half. Kosta was offside so often I reckon he must have forgotten what team he was on. Pasty was superb for about 70 minutes but looked to have a few brain explosions later on - probably just a bit tired. Brisbane's number 13 was a hell of a fast, and their number 18 looked like he was about twelve years old.

It was a huge buzz sitting five metres away from Ricki, Terry, Leo, Timmeh and Lochy, also.

intersting, the story comes with 'bonus' poxy rugby add down the page ,

good news though - there is a complain button - i did cos i figure every message that says hey old farts "NZ has moved past 'rugby, racing , and beer" will speed up better coverage of football

p.s - i have no problem with "beer"
