So, we are guaranteed two games against A-League opposition in the pre-season. I'm going to assume each team plays one at home and one away. Maybe a chance for us to play out of town with quality opposition without it being competitive fixture, though I'd prefer in Wellington obviously.

Wouldn't mind seeing Heart over here to see what they are like.

I second you on heart. Am curious about those red tards.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

with 11 teams, a couple teams will have to play 3 games.

Why do "The FFA now want to regain some of that control by enforcing two pre-season friendlies for each club?"
Seems pretty unnecessary, giving the clubs a bit of freedom seemed like the right move last year.

I don't see the point. The teams play each other enough during the regular season anyway, and it was interesting seeing different clubs doing different things last year.

Not necessarily. Whoever has the bye from the "first round" of games just gets to play whoever has the bye from the "second round" of games. I guess it means there will at least one midweek match or the games are staggered over the three weekends, so that one team doesn't play twice on the same weekend.

Ridiculous. Especially given each side is playing each other 3 times during the season anyway.

Allegedly

Tbh, it'll ruin the anticipation and surprise of the Heart. (especially if they do have a Jets vs Hearts pre season like the article suggests)

A-League clubs were always going to have preseason games against each other, it's just a shame that there's no flexibility with this.

If christchurch gets this game i'll be pissed, give it to dunedin, last chance for real quality football on the brook.

Apparently had to be 2pm kick-off 'cos there's an egg-ball game on that night (although I would have favoured 5pm, at least then we could still play our own games). Going to approach the local federation and see if they can postpone all games that day.

As for "yuck, Hamilton" you don't have to stay. But its a great location relative to population - only hour and half to Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo. Hoping for a good turnout.

What provisions have been made for player safety? Can we afford the necessary security costs?

It's perfect timing for me - my game that weekend has been shifted to Friday night under lights.

Signing in to contribute to kick off time angst.

if it was an evening or Sunday game I'd make the road trip. Funnily enough I have a game around that time of day on Saturday myself.

Yusss Nix to the tron! Hopefully a decent crowd for this one even though the poor kick off time. Waikato stadium has a superb surface. Best in the country.

Awesome, might look at heading up and bringing my family over from Tauranga. One of the best stadiums I've been to in this country, should be awesome.

This. Plus a good stadium. Have been saying for a couple of years that Hamilton should be considered if pre-season games are to be shared around the country.

Not sure that 2pm kick-off on a Saturday was the happiest solution, but it sounds like they may not have had too much choice.

Hamilton deemed by basically everybody (Rugby Players anyway/ sorry TopLeft) to be the best playing surface in the country.

And Thames.

Hamilton is alright for a game for me. Not quite Danby Field in Thames, but it'll do.

So where are the Fever sitting? The cheap seats?

Waikato Stadium will be awesome for this. Great surface. Great ground. No bad seats.
And if you are staying in town after good times to be had.
