 when's Sanchez back?

Can we get Slater on the FFA- loved his comments on Fox the weekend- called out Jeronimo and the ref for letting fouls go.

Is Smith too weak in the mids? Seems to have been a clatteree , when previously it would have been lia, brown or Muscat who were the clatterers- has showed weakness and is not getting free kicks so either has to toughen up or get some ref sympathy.

considering the strong finish in Melbourne and our strong start to the season against Sydney how should we line up for this one?

Think Smith wants to play football not Thugball.

Think he's still too green for the A-league, not strong enough to play up front in this league. His contribution has been pretty minimal so far, and he's had decent minutes.

I agree, but I thought he began to link the play a bit better when he came on.  Anyway, always one for the future, maybe a little over promoted so far.  Lyndsay still can't make a bench which is tough on him.
I'd change things a bit for this weekend.  I'd drop Fenton (but keep him on the bench for late minutes) and bring Lia back in plus move Smith forwards into the old Brown role behind the strikers getting into the box, plus move Brockie out wide.  Ifill nominally on the left but basically he can play where he wants and doesn't need to defend.  It's going to be a little bit ugly but gets us back to how we won games last year and should make us less open through the middle.
Weaknesses: None
Strengths: Brockie might get into the game more, more solid in the middle of midfield, frees Ifill up defensively, some presence in the final third with Smith, more support for Steyn

Leo - Sigmund - Durante - Lochhead

Im wondering if we should be playing fenton or ifill in a central attacking midfield role?

Fenton seems to be able to take on a lot of work and is strong enough to play there. Think he would be a revelation there

The grass will be at 12mm this weekend as opposed to 20mm. Read into that what you will.

The aussies will complain, no doubt.

He has played CAM a lot in his age group and club teams. I think he may even prefer it.

I agree, Fenton will be great there eventually, but maybe a bit early.  You have a lot less time and space than when you get the ball out wide

Yeah agreed. However he already looks like he can work in small amounts of space and can create it as well. However he also has a great cross on him.
I would almost be willing to throw him in and see how he goes. If its not work him, easy switch for him back wide

WCC will cut, trim and manicure to local team's request. Unless you have upset them.

WCC should cut, trim and manicure my "lawn".  Might as well get something for my rates (you extortionist b#stards).

We decide but 10-14mm is the requirement for cricket which is on Friday night. Short for football has less effect on the game as long for cricket does, although a footballer might like to disagree. The Phoenix know but they won't get to train on it to get a feel for it due to the wicket move happening Saturday.

I used to do this in Palmy (god there was a truck load of green stuff up there).  Fortunately we are bereft of such frontages in K-Town, Wright's Hill base camp.

Former neighbour left council grass till council cut it once a year. Got so pissed off I mowed(copped it down)  every so often.

I'd agree with this. It also paves the way for the return of Sanchez, who would push Smith to the bench for me, at least on current form.

That would give us Moss, Boxall, Smith, Fenton on the bench, which is a damn good bench.

I'd still look at Smith and Manny as the holding two. Think Smith is slightly out of form, but has been given a pretty thankless job and has been outnumbered a lot in the middle off the park lately.

strong squad innit...

agree with calls for lia to be added to the midfield, shouldn't take much away from our creativity with brockie getting more ball on the flank

unlucky for fenton but he's a young lad and should have plenty of impact from the bench

Like this too,  just Fenton for Ifill, who is not up to speed yet. Doesn't deserve his place in the team onform

^^ not bad, though Id start with either one of Smith or Lia, not both. Start Fenton, may require some re-juggling positionally tho

I don't care who we play in midfiled so long as they show up this time : )

Fenton looks good on the ball and seems to retain possession reasonably well, would be keen to seem him play more centrally as it may see him be more involved than he has been the last two matches. Whoever our wide players are, they need to sit more centrally when we are defending to stop our middle from being over ran.

I hope Bertos and Lochead have worked on their positioning and playing the off side trap.
