Happy we won but gutted I got the time zones out by two hours so only saw the last two minutes.

If anyone can post the entire game on a sharing site or send to me via sendit.com etc than please let me know. If this uses up your bandwidth then happy to transfer $10 or whatever as token compensation. PM me if this is possible for someone.

great win, a bit dissapointed with a few things though... too many long balls and offsides in the first half and Ifill should have had a brace but other than that a good hit out against a very defensive minded team.

5 (should've been more) goals in two games is good and kept a cleean sheet which was much needed.

Manny-awesome run to set up the goal

Yeah, pretty average game. Willing to give Toto more chances but he was pretty average. Though he was playing on the left. Would he be better up the middle? No one really stood out as MoM for me. Happy with the result, but plenty of room for improvement which is good. Two nice goals.

Very happily take the 3 points but we were rubbish in the first half - somewhat better in the second.

Midfield was M I A entire first half - not helped by some appalling distribution out of the back four (that means you Siggy). Thankfully CCM had nothing in the attacking 3rd otherwise, with the possession they had, we would have been in trouble.

Anyway I'll take an ugly win but sh*t loads to work on.

P.S. First goal was class.

P.P.S. Manny MOM - just keeps getting better.

in the stand toto was driving me grizzly. ill have to watch replay to give him fair assessment. but sorry, Daniel is a proven contributor and Im not in favour of giving toto a whole bunch of opportunities he doesnt take while Daniel has to watch from the bench.

At least CCM tried to play a passing game through the midfield instead of long balls in the air all day. It wasn't pretty but I'll take an ugly win any day. Manny and Siggy were standouts for me but I'd give MOM to Manny. Hopefully he'll keep the right back position.

Bit of a worry about Pasty's injury. The timing of Griffin signing for us could be a McMaster stroke.

Agree. He did lob through a couple of nice balls but nothing Daniel doesn't routinely do. Mcallister is also a concern for me: lumbering, indifferent ball control and slow to get on the end of attacking movements.

I was pretty impressed by Toto. One great ball which unleashed Ifill, an excellent bit of combination play down the wing with Lochead (I think) and a pretty decent tackle to lift some pressure.

McAllister didn't look too bad either. He wasn't the quickest, but he held the ball up well and gave the CCM defenders an extra thing to worry about.

us YF had a fairly quiet 1st half - lots of basking in the sun

Happy with Big Mac's contribution - he give us something new

(we've got the best burger in the league)

really was a slightly uninspiring 2nd half until we scored

pleased to see we didn't sit back after geting 2 goals clear

clean sheet has to be good after last week

3rd place - game in hand on most teams - yep I'll take that

Toto needs more time on the park to assess what he'll bring - he might need telling to play it a bit safer in our half - i think that he wants it played at a faster tempo than our lads are currently (except Ifill and perhaps Leo, Greenie and Dura) capable of

Manny might just be staking a claim for a wingback role when North gets heretigers2010-08-22 18:39:25

I'm going to reserve judgement on Toto until he's play a few games but I will say when he came on He ran around for 30 seconds stopped put his hands on his hips and needed a breather for 10 seconds.

Ricki must see something in him but I saw little today

I thought Toto gave away possession a bit much BUT half the time it was because the Nix player intended to receive the pass was too slow of thought.

Toto was playing a lot of first time balls - our guys are going to need to go up a gear to read his intentions and anticipate / react quicker.

None of that is a bad - it's the same challenge Ifill has with players around him not being quick enough - McAllister would have scored a couple if he been sharper of thought today.

Hopefully it will come with more time together on the park.

9553 crowd today. Seemed more but should have been much more given the nice weather.

Thought Manny and Siggie had good games today. Manny looked wasted a few minutes from time.

Great result, but a rather poor game from both sides.
Skill level was way down, and tbh I thought is was quite boring.
However, 3 points are important.

Probably not helped by the drilling he got into the signage?

I thought Phoenix were pretty good today, but for much of the game it looked too much like last week for my liking.

I thought Durante, Muscat and Greenacre were top dollar.
Why would you use Toto in front of Daniel? Dont understand that at all.
Even Hearfield could have been given a run in a forward position instead of Bertos. He is quick and we havent seen him in that role for a while.
Ifill got better and was a constant threat.

CCM shooting was woeful. I thought they played loads of high ball forwards as well, which Phoenix dealt with pretty well.

The Phoenix seemed to be relying on holding it up and then playing balls over the defence to fast runs from midfield.

But overall, this looks to be team well worth watching and streets ahead of the Phoenix of 2 years ago. I enjoyed it.

It was a strange sort of game really (think I said that last week too...). First goal was really good stuff, especially from Muscat, and the second goal was a great finish. In between there really wasn't much else to shout about.

Referee and assistants were very pedantic and made the game far too stop/start, it never flowed really at all.

Paston looked a lot more assured today, although looks like he might miss a game or two now.

Not sure that Greenacre is playing a bit too deep? I'd say he needs to be closer to McAllister to profit from the knock ons etc. McAllister offers a decent presence up front, but I do hope we are not sucked into punting long balls to him constantly as happened a few times today.

I thought Lia was pretty poor and invisible half the game, and I didn't think Brown was too much better for the most part.

Ifill could've scored about 4 and generally had a bit of an off day. As I say though, great finish for his goal in any case.

As for Toto, I thought he had some decent touches...jury is still out, but I think it might work out ok.

Defence looked reasonably solid and restricted them to mainly terrible efforts from 25 yards out.

Next week shall be interesting.

OK, Paston didn't put a foot wrong in this game, but he does not inspire confidence at all. Every time he goes for a catch from a cross, my heart jumps into my mouth.

oh, and Greenacre is class.

Your mouth is more than big enough for a lot of heart, and believe me if McDisaster gets serious game time it will need to be.

I mean that in a caring sharing way of course...

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I don't think we can judge Toto just eyt. He had good ideas with all his play but it will take a while for the other players to begin to read his play.

Also, him and Daniel provide awesome half time entertainment

To be honest, I've been to much, much better football games. Both teams can play much better than they actually did.

Still a win is a win.
