This must be won.  Otherwise, big-time melancholy for the rest of 10/11 season.

Apparently it's free entry.

Durante is out of this one. Musa in? Tim Brown to captain. Ricki back on the sideline.

No Dura. No Lia. No Paston.

No Surrender.

C'mon Phoenix, let's end the year on a high note. Do it for Pasty.

Ditch the five in midfield. Doesn't work.

      Muscat
Rojas          Daniel
      Ward
Greenacre IfillMichael2010-12-12 02:48:35

surely not free entry?
Hmm this is gonna be a very interesting challenge.

I would go with:

                   Vukovich
Hearfield Siggy North Muscat
               Lia          Brown
Bertos                                Daniel
            Greenacre Ifill

Crowther, Musa, Rojas, Mac

I know taking muscat out of midfield is dangerous, but I think if Musa came in, itd really make our backline shaky, especially with no Durante there for leadership.

I guess Browny for captain. Unless greeny or ifill wanted to take it? Don't think North would? Maybe siggy even?

With injuries and suspensions (and form?) to consider, there aren't too many options.

Perhaps we will have more luck if we put all 15 on at the same time.........

Start Rojas.

There are two positional changes that, I think, were key to our revival; Manny playing DM in front of the back four and Ifill playing front man.

Anyone, with the greatest of respect, who has a formation that doesn't have this (^) needs their head read.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

So we would rather have muscat at DM and have Musa at LB? I'm not sure its the best idea with Dura out.

And Ifill as the front man with greenacre should still be ok. I still think Greeny in behind someone like Ifill might be more effective. Alost a CAM/CF

Would like to see Musa start again.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

                          vukovic

             hearfield      sigmund     north     musa

                           brown              lia

                  ifill            macalister          daniel

greenacre
rojas
pavlovich

bertos, for me, has not earned his spot at all this season, its time to give other players a run

newcastle have a very strong backline so we need a strong central attacker (macalister) and ifill can work the wide sides against there wingbacks

rojas comes on 60 min to give good half an hour, didnt do as well last night as he normally does but he did put in a good effort and the spark was still definitly there, and since we refuse to give him a start, give him the  majority of the second half, or even better, bring him on at half time

Don't know why people are so keen on Musa. I don't think we are that desperate. He was pretty poor against the Victory, overall, despite playing better in the second half. Too much of a risk for what is going to be the most important game of the season.

Lia's available.
I'm certain the commentators said otherwise after it was awarded. That being said, I'd sooner expect the commentators or my hearing to be wrong than you, so I'll take your word for it

I think it is because he is 'anyone else'. Same reason a lot of people wanted Diego when our midfield wasn't functioning, or Mulligan.

When we won against the heart it was a 442. Lets repeat that.. please.

And when we won against Adelaide (a better team) we were in a 4-3-3..so...logic fail.

imo the problem is still that we rely too much on Ifill and we only really have 3 players who are confident attackers + Brown who sits too deepvaleo2010-12-12 17:11:00

The term "must win game" gets chucked around a heap on these forums, but I think this game deserves the tag for sure. Win and we go along way to feeling comfortable in the top 6, lose and I don't even want to think about it.

Durante is a huge loss, against his old club I would have thought he'd be amping for this, especially playing next to North. Culina diving for the yellow makes it even worse. Anyway, Ricki might have to dip into the Musa file again, he doesn't really have a choice, Muscat is too important at DM.

                          Vuko
Hearfield      Siggy      North    Musa
                      Muscat
             Brown            Lia
       Ifill        Greenacre    Daniel

Bench: Rojas, BigMac, Bertos

I don't like it, but Ricki doesn't really have a choice. I'd have Mac in for Daniel which I think could work quite well. But there ya go, the back 4 could also have Musa in his preferred CB role and Siggy on the right (where he's been playing well) and Hearfield at LB.

seems not long ago Ricki had too many choices, now not so many. If only Elliott's contract ended next Sunday. We could have used his experience.

Why are we wanting to start Bertos - he has done nothing. Give Rojas a start, he is definately not going to do worse than Bertos or Daniel!

* Ifill as an attacking midfileder, more to give him freedom to move about, and work with the attacking pair.

* Greenie working off Big Mac (or Pav even), well, i just believe we looked like we had more attacking intent with those two working up front. Also works well when we revert to our "were not at all a long ball playing team but lets play the long ball over and over again" strategy.

Nah gold coast did it last week and only got 1500 people.

Phoenix are doing it this week.

I can understand why some would find this confusing, but yes GCU only got that few To a free entry game, piss poor. We're going to annihilate that figure.
