brilliant game

great to see a bit of creativity around the box finally. first time all season I've seen us play the ball into a strikers feet with his back to goal then make a run to have it returned. simple stuff really just bounce it off the strikers trust them to receive it at their feet which we did.

Well done boys, great effort all round.I thought Rojas was the creative little spark we needed, Newcastle couldn't handle him and he wasn't afraid of them. Our back four were solid tonight,North was awesome i thought.Hope like hell Ifills injury isn't to serious either, best wishes for a swift recovery. That Greenacre Dmac partnership did well to, more of the same please boys.

Sweet hoping to check out a few thugs we couldn't see from the zone. Like greenys goal and browns celebration.

Bloody brilliant night, ( apart from the injury to Ifill)  the first half being one of the most dominating and exciting 45 mins I've seen from the Nix and right up there with the GCU 6-0 game, the Jets and Perth play-off games last season and other memorable games.
The throat got a thorough thrashing last night, to good effect I thought.

Compliments to everyone who attended, especially those in the Fever Zone. We put in a full 90+ and it showed. It felt like there was almost constant chants going last night and that atmosphere was tops, must spur the players on as well.
Perhaps 6 pubs compulsory pre-game.. er.. "training".. should be the new rule in the YF zone, to ensure we're in fine voice every home game.    BTW, hows the heads lads??

We had a friend come over from England for Christmas the last time she came along to the R.O.F we won 6-0 over the gold coast we're trying to see how we can keep her locked up at the stadium for the foreseeable future

Yep, was another good one in Chch.
Top effort there Iffy. You've got 8 days to recover on the wagon before The Nix are at NQF..oh wait, its Christmas!
Maybe just keep going with the Christmas spirit then.

Did anyone else notice one of the Jets players - I think it was Regan - pouring his water bottle over the kids that were doing the Hyundai banner when the teams walked out?

that was the closest I've felt to last season

hopefully a turn-around that we can continue away from home

when is Ward due to make a return?

That performance certainly gives Ricki a few selection headaches. How do you slot Lochhead and Durante into that back four that performed brilliantly last night. Does he stick with 442 with Big Mac and Greenie?
He can't drop Marco.
If Lochy replaces Manny, who do you drop in midfield for Manny?

You're right. That is an easy decision.

Agreed. Lia cannot do a cross to save himself and isn't really "thug" enough to justify his place on that alone.

Just as well he doesn't play in an area of the pitch where you expect him to cross then isn't it.

Yeah it was good by and large, but Greenie's goal was a bit contentious...
But I've officially decided I don't care whether it was over the line or not, Greenie is owed by the officials for bollux offside calls earlier in the season.

Did any one else find it strange that Musa came on for Rojas and played on the wing?
Didn't really look like he knew what to do, weird choice of sub.

Only player left om the bench. Would you rather Crowther?

Also a question for those in fever zone (I was sitting with some friends above the halfway line), what was the deal with the vuvuzela style drone that you guys had going for a while?

Not strange at all. 4 nil up, only sub left on the bench, Rojas looked about set to cark it - what else could we do?

Marco looked to be cramping pretty bad, unlike Vukovic, I wouldn't put Crowther on outside of the goal. I guess Herbert was liking the look of getting a clean sheet for the first time in a while, why mix up a back line that was performing well?

I agree he looked like he had no idea what he was doing though, despite that made no mistakes and ran the line OK for the 10 or minutes he was on the field.

This is only the second Nix game I have ever missed.
Have only seen the goals and Ifill getting carted off the pitch.
As I said before the game I could not see the Jets beating us at home, but the margin surprised me.3 points was the most important thing. Hopefully I will see a replay in the next day or two.
The only comment I can make is we did it without Ifill and Durante. Perhaps by shear luck Ricki has found the perfect blend. Do we need them?

You could swap Durante for Musa  and Ifill for Daniel on the bench maybe

Well not Ifill if his knee is rooted

Oh so there were actual vuvuzelas? I haven't been in the zone much this season because my usual cronies went to Otago and as such have missed out on this craze.

I thought people were just doing a pre-goal kick style droning for (apparently) no reason, was very strange.

Number 24 Jeffers. He was joking though.

Well I thought if we brought Musa on he'd slot into the defense, freeing Muscat or Hearfield into the midfield. Seemed strange that he got left out of place in an attacking position with no-one wanting to give him the ball not knowing what he was up to.
