I think we're gonna throw everything we have at Melbourne Embaras-side. It's the fulcrum of our run in. Our new found 'post-crusaders pep talk' away form to the fore, and both teams playing for all the marbles... I can't wait!

Siggy to score a 25 yard drive.

heart to take a quick free kick 15 yards from the spot, allowed by the officials, leaving our defence wrong-footed and scoring.

Oh, hang on, that one already played out in Morwell.

Embarasi-side?  We could be the ones embarrassed after 90 minutes against the Heart.

Embaras-side? Try Jam Tards. They have a nickname already.

I would have called the Victory the Embaras-side, they have been much more embarrasing than the Heart. At least the Heart look like they can actually play football.

Nix to win 1-0 with Leo squaring a ball for Ifill to tap in

Heart to withdraw their A-League licence to play in Clive Palmer's new Football Australia league and Phoenix to get default.

Heart are a good side who seem to be coming in to form at the business end of the season - no doubt helped by their top players returning and regaining match fitness.

Plenty to respect but nothing to fear - I give us a good chance if we are prepared to take the game to them.

It will be very interesting to see what Herbert does with selections assuming Lochhead is available - Smith was our best player yesterday - will he have done enough to keep Lia out ?

I know what my view would be but I doubt it will be a view shared by Herbert.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Are they staying over there for the week before they take on Melbourne Disgusted?

Good chance for Manny to catch up with his wee girl too.

Interestingly, I reckon that if the roles were reversed, I think Ifill would have gone for the shot too.

Just sayin..goldienz2012-03-05 18:43:22

The difference is our top goal scorer this season, and Leo is not. There's a reason for that. Ifill would have had a much higher chance of scoring.

Not sure. I think I remember Ifill putting a nice assist in from a similar type of situation before.

I recall Ifill somehow missing an open goal from directly in-front, earlier that same game.

I had more of an issue that he tried to drill it near post instead of bending it into the open back post rather than the lack of a pass to Ifill. It would have been nice of him to slip it though, but the shot was on - just not that shot.aitkenmike2012-03-05 20:18:43

Key game - need to pick up a result here.

Finishing will need to be better because we'll most likely only get a few.

Pretty worried about the Heart game. They play a bit like Brisbane - high press, lots of short little passes, quick and mobile players; basically everything we're not.

That's going to be a huge game. Heart have somewhat got some groove back after hitting a pretty bad run of form.
I really hope the Nix can be as ruthless as they were vs Sydney. At this point of the season, the only thing that counts is the 3 points.

Of course I'd like to win and play well, but let's face it all we need is the points.

Would be quite happy with the same line up as on Sunday. Given that Lia's crossing ability is as bad as Lochhead's, with Vinnie at LB I actually feel a bit more secure.
Loved Smith, great vision and good passing range. Leo played one of his season best games.
Need Dirty Sanchez and Greenie to step it up, which for us really means score a goal. I know Greenie is a tireless worker and all, but I wouldn't mind him playing off the last defender sometimes and just try and poach one instead of always dropping to our penalty box and win the ball back.

Can't wait for this one.

But Ifill can shoot, Leo, no way.

Was so angry that he was selfish when the goal was gaping.  You wouldn't have ever seen Brisbane Meow f**k that chance up.

Heart are a good team in good form. I suspect Ricki will play Lia and Brown in midfield to try and shut down Fred and Thompson. Which would be a tough call on Smith coz he distributed the ball very well against GC.
Agree with you NZpower about Sanchez and Greenie stepping up. Sanchez was better against GC than he has been for several week, but needs to get on the ball more. Greenie needs to try and get into the goal scoring action more often, he has a good shot, he just needs to use it more often. We had 25+ shots at goal last Sunday.....I can't remember him making one, which is not great for a striker in a game you are dominating.

So the lads have a week in Melbourne.....aaahhh! the life of a professional footballer. Last week was a week in the sun and surf of Bondi beach. Not surprising none of them want to retire. Earn a six figure sum, work 6 months of the year.....lucky buggers!!!!

Yes, but both teams were miles behind us on the ladder.

Though that is true, I think if we up the boring and grinding, we may be up for 0-0 draw or even a 1-0 win (like Sodney)Azevo2012-03-05 22:14:03

We can't afford to sit back and play defensive, we have shows away teams too much respect in the last few games over the Tasman.

I want to see Sanchez back central, where he was signed to play, and where he was great for us earlier in the season.

Tim Brown needs to play midfield, where he is actually selected to play. Some assistance to Lia or Smith would stop teams running through the middle of us all the time.

Agree about Brown. This would allow Greenacre to be more prominent in the top third.Brown knows he can rely on Chris to drop back and help out

It seems to be, that at A-League level, Greenacre is a very good midfielder. He has a very good first touch and protects the ball well when recieving, has an accurate first time short pass, has good lateral passing vision in general and very rarely loses the ball while in posession. The problem is he probably doesn't want to play in the midfield and ends up neither a striker, nor a midfielder, just hovering in no-mans land with Brown - probably contributing to the problems we have with transistioning on attack.

Well, Ifill could have squared the ball against Sydney the previous game, but he took the shot and missed the target...
