...or if anyone fancies an 18:30 game of 5-a-side at Fraser Park let me know so I can go to Miramar and give DialSquare a lift.

I've seen him play too, and I'd definitely be doing his Fraser Park team a favour by getting picked up!

You just feel obliged to say that because Dicky gave you a discount.

Shameless you are.

Phoenix 4 - 0 Team Wellington (HT 3-0)

1st Half: Palladini, Felipe (PK), Palladini.
2nd Half: Barbarouses

Good game to watch - quite phyisical at times, whilst entertaining with TW trying hard to get a goal but eventually failing.
For the Nix Paston started as a goalie along with Old, Brownlie, George, Felipe et cetera.
All the above played well, with Old often anticipating his man and Brownlie running like a mad man!
Ferrante played the whole game, and wasn't bad either: he helped the defence and ran the ball a lot. Didn't shin up front though.

George had a nice game, finding the net twice. In the first half, after a great combination with Felipe, he was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty. His defensive phase can still get better, but I reckon he had a good game up front, always challenging and taking on his man, taking shots and trying really hard.

In the second half Costa checked in and got a nice goal, with a shot from the right hand side of the penalty box. He ran a lot too, and was perhaps a little slow in passing the ball sometimes, but not bad at all.
Felipe played almost the whole 1st half and was obvioulsy the most talented man on the pitch. However, he didn't seem to be 100%. Not sure whether or not he's totally over his injury (hope so) but his fitness might be a little low. Let's hope he'll be there on Sunday.

Johnses played well in the midfield as well.
Aloisi, Daniel, Christie, Smeltz and Clebo: N/A
J. Spoonley played goalie in the 2nd half. Made a couple of nice saves.

For TW Raf De Gregorio played very well and also n.24 tryed his best to score one..

Will post some pictures in the gallery after dinner.

It was all the fringe players. Felipe didn't look too good (he only played a half). Sully played okay in defense. Old and O'Dor were paired at the back. Costa probably played best in the second half. George was very enthusiastic and even managed to get some goals.

I saw 4 "Phoenix" goals.

Hard to get a judge as both sides chopped and changed.  First half Felipe was everywhere and the Phoenix led 2-0 at the half with a Felipe penalty and George converting a chance.

Side was something like : Paston, A Chote, Old, O'Dor (to me a sure sign they will be our CD pair on Sunday) O'Sullivan, George, Felipe, Costa, Brownlie, Ferrante, maybe Richard Johnson ?  Don't quote me on that.

Second half Old, O'Dor, Paston, Felipe all came out.  O'Sullivan moved in to CB with Miguel from TW, Draper came on, Steve Gulley at Right back and a mystery number 6 and Spoonley.  Resulted in the best goal of the game from Costa's wingplay.  Very nice.

Spoonley was lucky not to concede as he over-committed a couple of times.

Costa and Felipe impressed me of those out there.

TW mixed and matched as well.  Raf, Andy Barron, Daniel Ellensohn, George B, Jamie F, Eager, Patrick, Birch and Wilson all played the whole game or most (sorry if I missed anyone).  Luis Corrales played the second half and Banners and Phil Imray did a half each.  (There is a fair bit of the Fever Zone in there !)

Barron and Raf looked quality to me.

Ha, turns out I arrived too late for the first goal...

Maybe 100 there ?

Who's this 'A Chote' person that you said is in the Phoenix defence Hard News?
Permalink Permalink

4-0? I'm pretty sure I saw Moss concede one in the second half, and I overheard someone saying the final score was 4-2.

Had such a great time, George impressed me, and Raf did a great job for TW, I'm looking forward to seeing him and the others at Newtown Park. Best part for me though was Ricki mingling with the crowd, getting to meet him and shake his hand is a memory that will only be rivaled by our first home game. Fingers crossed I'll be lucky enough to attend more in the future!

Moss wasn't in goal. It was Spoonley in Moss' top. And he didn't concede any. I heard that 4-2 thing and unless they scored 2 before I showed up, I doubt it.

Moss = Spoonley in a Moss shirt.

Pretty sure the one beer I had did not hinder my view enough to miss 3 goals...but you never know.

A Chote (I say A as I think it's Allan but I'm not certain) is with the Team Welly squad and was helping make the numbers.

Oh, RJ played most of the game. I don't recall seeing Felipe in the second half though. Or Old or O'Dor. Just Draper, Brownlie, Ferrante, Johnson (who went off), Costa, Sully, George and Spoonley.

what game were you watching mate? :D
Nah it was Spoonley and especially in one occasion he missed the ball and the TW winger crossed it, but it went all the way across the goal without actually being tapped in!
no goals scored by TW
4-0 the final result
