For the last game before Christmas (Friday 23 December at 7:30pm at the Ring of Fire) the Nix are running a competition to write a carol re-styled for the Nix.

Here's my effort - would love to hear your thoughts. Would have been 300% better if I hadn't f**ked up my voice on Wednesday night in the zone....

If you enjoy it then could I please ask you to "Like" it on the Phoenix Facebook page? I'm absolutely desperate for votes. If indeed the prize is to lead the Ring of Fire in a rendition of the song at halftime then it would truly mean the world to me.

I'm less excited about the Sony prize to be honest. Did someone say lead the Ring of Fire in a stirring rendition of Ricki's Christmas??????

I have updated the original post because it is ambiguous how to enter and while I have more combined votes someone else has more (the "We Wish You a Merry Nixmas" one).

If you would prefer to hear Ricki's Christmas (perhaps a Ricki cameo can be organised?) at halftime this Friday I would be forever grateful if you could throw me 3 likes (seems to be a recurring theme, that "3"). Sorry there are so many.

Easily the best, I would like if i had a facebook, so I implore eveyrone else to like it! In the name of an impending bar tab that I am hoping I can shout the YF boys..

I actually wasn't aware that there was a Tablet as one of the prizes. I thought it was an eReader which I was going to auction off for Life Flight Trust Fundraiser.

Now that I've discovered that a Tablet is one of the prizes I pledge a portion of this to Life Flight if I win it (I'll probably end up selling/auctioning it and donating a portion).

Quite honestly I didn't know/care what the prizes were when I saw this. I just want a chance to sing this at the Ring of Fire on Friday. Would mean so much to me. A little concerning that the Facebook doesn't mention that this is the prize though...

Sadly it's not done on the number of Likes, though I am sure it wouldn't hurt to get them.

I have a bad feeling that whoever is judging this may choose another one. Not sure why but I have that feeling. Also the Facebook post doesn't mention the song being sung at half-time, while the Club website does?

I have re-recorded the track with a better rested voice. It was done in a car on Oriental Parade. I also cut a video. Here are the new links - if you downloaded the first version then I suggest you pick up the new version which has much improved vocals!

Brilliant!

Ahmad's also very much star quality (probably the only time I could ever listen to Snoopy''s Christmas without wanting to punch a puppy or a round-headed kid).
