And I think anyone who follows this forum over the years knows you're completely wrong. Don't you remember all the sneering and whining about the sub-10000 attendances at Mt Smart and QBE?

Don't get me wrong, its absolutely hilarious (and worth sneering at) but its definitely not the main reason people don't like taking games out of Wellington.

The Nix represent a country-wide team whether Wellington-based fans like it or not, it's good to reserve a connection for any fans based outside Welly - most of whom are in Auckland. Don't see a problem with a game or two in Akl, no more than that though

That's really a matter of opinion rather than fact. I'd say Manchester United represent Manchester, that doesn't change because they have fans all over the world. People in Auckland are welcome to support us but the 'Wellington" in our name pretty clearly shows that that's not intended. I don't think we should have any home games outside of Wellington in an ideal world but I realise that sometimes it is necessary.

Comparing the Nix to Manu Utd. I know we're all a bit optomistic about this season, but stedy on there champ.

Fair point but way I see it is that the Nix carry the responsibility of NZ pro football on their shoulders, just as the Breakers and Warriors carry their sports. They're based in Wellington so they're called Wellington, but I surely think it means more than that to all other Kiwi football fans, and as they're the only pro club in the country it's a fair right to label it as representing the nation. Would hate to see the #metrics if only Wellingtonians supported the club

It would be a disastrous move, from a business point of view, if you denied the rest of NZ to have a game or two.

The popularity of this club has to grow.

If we get 20k+ on Friday night, there will undoubtedly be a fair number of them, who's never watched us before.

And if we play well, some of those people will tune in for our 'home game' in Sydney.

And some of them will keep following us. More TV viewers, more shirts, more $$$.

We're not in a position, where we can compare us to Man Utd etc. We're in a position, where we potentially will cease to exist by the end of next season.

will be interesting to see how Eden park copes with the cricket on the outer oval and then the Nix straight after - organisers apparently suggesting to the cricket attendees to walk across to the football after the cricket finishes.

my flat mate just told me 20k tickets have been sold.

To my fellow yellow fever standers, let’s get pumping for the entire 90mins and show everyone what a really good football atmosphere is like. I want to leave my voice in that stadium at full time.

It's a no brainer, I hope lots of them do, do that. A sporting bonanza.

Personally, I couldn't care less how many attend Eden Park, the more the better. It's the national profile that's important here.  Wellingtonians also have the ball in their park, it frustrates the hell out of me that we don't get more at the Westpac, despite the form of the team. I do think the club needs to do more advertising around town, it certainly doesn't help that their public profile is limited to the web/media. I want to see us on billboards (like you do at the start of the season), flags up, posters etc...people on the streets.

Nuts.

Bit ironic being Dynamo Dresden fans, considering what the RAF did to their city in 1945!

Yesterday only 3 sections of the South stand we opened up for sale. Looked like one has sold out and the other 2 are close to it. The remaining 6 sections have been opened up for sale as well. Positive signs.

You can probably make a fair assumption of current crowd based on capacity of North stand and each section of South stand. Wonder if we can find that information..

There's no YF tickets left, but that section is now in a GA block.

There is a collection of photos here from the 20k crowd in 2011. Looks sparse in some areas so perhaps there is close to 30k in the three stands?

Are there any sections of the stadium still not opened up for sale yet?

The news around crowd size just seems to keep getting more and more positive... amazing what good press and results can do!

Onto the match, we need to get the defence right again.  Only one clean sheet in the last 7 and we've conceded the most goals in the top 6.  Tough ask against Victory, but we need to get that solid, experienced back 5 together again (Durante, Kopa, Taylor, Rufer, Mandi) and grind this one out.

It still bugs me that we're bottom half.  I know we've had a good season but they don't give out any prizes for 6th (despite what the NZ football media seem to think given they seem entirely focused on our placing relative to Newcastle in 7th).

There is nothing like a big home crowd to bring out our worst.

I'm picking a 0-4 home thrashing.  With a red card thrown in.

Not to mention the benefits of a passionate fanbase if the club has a future.

I genuinely considered taking an Auckland job many years ago just so I could be a Warriors season ticket holder.

I understand why fans want to attend every game possible, but I also lose my shark with joy when the Warriors play in Welly.  If we get a handful more fans at every home away from home game then we can become worth more $ to Sky.

Not to mention we know a big sponsorship deal like Huawei required games outside of Wellington, contributing to the club being stable (losing less money than otherwise for the owners).

For Victory, Antonis is suspended?

Will Honda start? He got 30 mins off the bench verus Perth.

Last MVC game Cacace/Doyle struggled to contain Kosta, so I'm sure Rudan has a plan for that

Nice little item on TV3 news showing Tom Abercrombie and Andrew Durante with Nix and Breakers tops made for each other (the size difference was hilarious).  Breakers playing in Auckland Wellington on Thursday night and the Nix on Friday - we just need some cricketing promo for the Nix to tie it all in :-)

Breakers are actually in Wellington, think that's why they have done the promotion. Nix fans in Wellington not going to Auckland can catch the basketball game. Breakers fans in Auckland not in Wellington for the game can watch the football.

This crowd size if it actually comes to fruiition is just bloody awesome for both Auckland and the NIx

And please if it does, no muppet comes on here and moan about the advertising we have had in Auckland compared to your home town

Appreciate it for what it is

And no, I have seen no advertising

Zilch, zero, nada

Not a fan of games in Auckland, however, judging by all the buzz and publicity, there should be a very decent crowd. The game is in Auckland and we just have to accept it. I'm going to keep the run going, however if there really is a big crowd, it will make it a lot more fun. Except for those wanting to be in the zone and sitting down.

Show up Aucklanders and help make it a good atmosphere and help the team towards a win. Rather the game at Eden Park or Mt Smart. QBE is just wrong for every reason.

Might have to wear the Kurto Tee Shirt.
