Which would you guys prefer, a Striker(s) who are capable of netting 15+ goals this season or something to hold your keys?

Current number of members = 1786 x $25* giveaways = $44650...
How many 15+ strikers does $44650 get?

Call it two weeks of Fernando Morientes.  Two weeks someone else (read Terry) wouldn't have to fork out for.

Two weeks of Morientes? That's NZ dollars, not GB pounds. Or is the Spaniard having a sale

I picked a $1m figure out of the air which is what I suspect you would need to be forking out for a player of any real stature and history (a headline grabber) to come here.

If you can justify more than a million then I would suggest you shouldn't be looking for a job in the A-League.

clearly a striker is going to cost the club - Terry, sponsor whomever - more than the continuation of a small but welcomed gesture. I refuse to beleive the the discontinuation of the badges etc is due to financial reasons. It would cost less than $10k to give 2000 members a $5 membership badge.

What this proves is that you should never mess with a collector.

On the idea that we need a striker, HN has it spot on. To get a "big" name that isn't way past his prime, is going to cost a lot. It would be interesting to learn what Fowler is on, a player who is past his best.

So do we approach a respectable club - I'll use Man U only as an example, and ask for any 18 - 20 year old strikers on loan ? Remembering that by that age they should be match hardened enough to deal with anything some A League defenders can dish out, but also a player that needs consistant match experience? Rather than some player that is past his best?

I would suggest that the club has seperate fund for players, for transfers, for income from supporters.

You see the same behaviour in all businesses at the moment* though, prof - it's the death (of costs) by a thousand cuts. You get immediate results on the bottom line by cutting costs, and any less- tangible, negative side effects unfortunately don't show up on the balance sheet/profit and loss statement.

Cutting costs normally requires less commitment of capital than making profit, and I expect this is even more so for the Phoenix as making any significant extra profit must be a huge task (i.e. bums on seats probably the only major way)

credit crunch or not, you still need to look after your customer base...especially now when they are feeling the pinch too. We've all layed out $225 for a season ticket, most of us will travel to one or both of the away home games, and whilst a $25 off vouvher is great, we can't exactly keep it and take advantage of the offer can I?

Oh, FFS. It's just a stupid little badge. If you want it that much, just make one yourself, apparently it won't cost you that much.

And imagine how much it's gonna be worth in 50 years time - it'll be one of a kind...

If it's good enough it'll be plagerised and the club will make the product the focus of a home game

get ya hand off the "I'm a cheerleader" button El!!! I mean really, not once have I tried to detract from the big issues - all I've said is that not having something, be it a badge, key ring or some other keepsake is a little disappointing...I and others have said that these little momentos are the type of things that we collect, and will have to enjoy for years to come...Sure i could make my own little badge but it won't be an official Nix piece will it. Sure the shirt is new this season, but it will be the same kit next year too. I would rather hand back the $25 voucher, pay full price for my new kit and actually receive a proper membership pack...Simple! the club has done it for the first two seasons, other than cost which could have been offset by not supplying the voucher, I can see no other reason for not doing it for season 3...besides a lack of care!

We have been moaning about how this season the fans have to step up and get to the games, and yet you and you little support crew seem happy that parts of the clubs admin would rather just flick off a voucher instead of taking the itme to show they care about their fan base. As I said earlier its the little touches that we remember...

What he said.

Do we assume that all season ticket holders will be refusing to cash in their $25 vouchers to help the club out ?  Perhaps the club could collect them all back from us to build a player fund out of the savings?.

Over the last three seasons I've invested more dosh in club related items than I should have, yet I did so willingly to get my hands on some good stuff.

Just like a lot of other fans wanting to help establish the club, it's fans and promote the club in a good image to help convince others that it is worth the effort in our oown small way.

This has no monetary value as the unsigned ones are worth a considerable amount more!

How old will the pie wrappers be? Are they less than a month old or 6 months old? I mean 5000 pies is a lot of eating. Lonegunmen2009-07-19 12:55:17

I think they are Stadium Pies LG so you'd better not go near them!

I understand they used to be hot but someone complained about them being too hot - Not me but I understand it is another Nix fan - not HN either.

In season one, the pies were nuclear intensity hot. In season two, the pies were barely room temperature. So, season three... ice pies?

I was gutted.

I often get comments on my membership badge, which I proudly wear on my coat around town.  The comment I've had most this year?

"Member 08/09?  Not joining up again this year? He he he."

Well I have joined up, dammit, and I'd like not to have to explain to numpties who think the ABs are the only sports team in NZ that my club couldn't get their s**t together to thank us for our support.

We put up with the Ticketek incompetence again, we pay enough (bonus games?!!  really?) - I suspect the main reason is that there aren't enough season ticket holders this year to qualify for the bulk purchase discounts on the damn badges.
