IMHO is on the wane.
Pantelis said Wellington had a similar feel to Adelaide and is confident he and his family will quickly settle down.
It is a bit of a lifestyle change but it isnt a big, sprawling city like Sydney or Melbourne and everything is pretty close.
That was confirmed for me when I spoke to Dura [Phoenix captain Andrew Durante].
anyone else think without the likes of Dura we'd struggle to rope in these types of players?
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
This is a great signing. Watch the Yellow Fever light his fire! He will bring a new dimension to the squad IMO. Will he join in with "Adelaide are Rubbish" do you reckon?

End of an era. Vinnie - It's over.

How many times last season did we get all the way down the field only to have Bertos cross it straight into the first opposition player?
I'm excited about this signing.

Id rather Ifill one flank, leo, panty, and daniel all fighting for the other spot, and sign us an internationally proven striker.
Still see us taking the 4-3-3 formation for a while with the squad we have. Just bring in a link man or creative type to put in the middle of the pitch and we got ourselves a relatively good looking team.

You seem to be forgetting Greenie.

We should and probably will keep him. We need depth and Daniel offers that in more than one position. A more than handy squad player I think.
and a committed squad player, not a Diego. Gives his all for the 'Nix...
looking for more up to date clips- this is from a year ago...
seems top have pace and a good left footed finish- so will bring something to the mix we don't have now. martinb2011-05-16 13:22:06
- The nix have played a 433/451 consistently with the greatest reward, so I think with the current squad, this is our best option
- Greenacre has been a good striker, and I have not forgotten him- however, he has always operated best with a strike partner, and even with Ifill next to him, he didnt flourish, its either a DMac/equivalent as a partnership, or a bench role for me, which i think may be alright.
- Ifill is best out wide, he can cut inside, beat a man, score, or assist. He creates space and demands attention from the opposition meaning other space is opened up. For me, he is not a lone striker, and gets closed down too easily as does not have enough time or space. With him on one flank, and Pantelis, Leo, or hopefully Ward on the other, it means we will have a great source of diversity and creativity out wide to set up our front man
- Therefore there is a need for a new striker to be signed. A lone operator who can lead our ship. Pace isnt neccesarily a must, rather ability in air, and good return. Ideally if we are trailing we can bring greeny in to partner him?
- I guess the midfield maestro is what we also need to turn us into a title winning side, so that means one of brown, muscat or lia drop out. This player does not have to be a classic number ten, and defensive duties may be needed, but someone with a little more class on the ball, and an eye for creation would help us set free our wide players, or thread through to our strikers
I dont think these two type of signings are unrealistic and I truly believe that it would catapult us to the top of the table. I have said previously, but look at adelaide, they signed flores and Van dijk, two types that we could really do with, and they went from bottom to third.

Fuck this stupid game
1) when it is raining, nay, fair pelting down and everyone is sliding everywhere
2) like Dmac or anyone when Marco was delivering assists on a plate....
We will never fully decide who has won the football.

A fair assessment. With two confirmed transfers in the last week or so lets hope more news arrives soon.
Tbh, they have much better tracks than that one.
Queenslander 3x a year.
I believe Greenie in where you have Ward would work. The he can work in behind a new striker (to be signed), much like he worked with D-Mac
Yellow Whever Whanganui
I really hope we can get Ward, I personally thought he grew and grew last season, especially out wide. In the middle he didn't get enough time on the ball and gave it away a few too many times with some bad consequences. But out wide he could take more risks and try beat guys. Had a good delivery too and complimented Rojas, hopefully would do the same with Ifill

Completely agree with all of this.
I am also amazed that he has a contract this year. His first contract was for two years. Did we offer him a three year deal after that or something?
Auckland will rise once more
He isn't exactly a utility, has only ever played out left and not in a defensive role. Think he may have played centrally , he did in preseason or for the reserves I think?
But yeah I'm very on the fence with him, hes been a good servant, not sure he has too much to offer though, compared to some keener young blood. However he is a kiwi and could be good for mentoring.
Maybe look at subsidising his wage and make him part of the coaching staff?

This absolutely screams out decent mid-table team to me.
Why so much hate on Daniel?
Here's a guy who doesn't pack a sad when he's on the bench or not even in the matchday squad, is a great public face for the club, and is still capable of occasionally providing a defence-splitting pass or a pinpoint cross that could get us a goal or two.
Plus he actually wants to be here - so if you can have him around for another year, why wouldn't you?

Loves the fans and the club. And can be handy when called upon.
Keep him I say.
Yellow Whever Whanganui
if however he is on 100-150k then no, not based on last season
I am also interested to know when this contract was offered as I cannot recall the announcement - does anyone know?
