Are you suggesting that the Fever have a "Kop" like influence on the boys on the paddock?

I would also agree it seems like most goals the lads get are at the fever end.

so to get more goals do you think we need to put some feverites down behind the other goal?

last season it took ages for them to score at the other end. Think they might have 1 so far this year (v. Melbourne maybe?)

2 against Perth in the 4-1 win last year
Daniel against Adeliade (pen)
1 more against Perth

So that's 4 all up last year.

Oh, out of 15.

And this season,
Smeltz got one against Queensland
one against Melbourne
one against Sydney

So 3/7.

Making 7/22, or 32%

Yeah, shouldnt forget that one

Edit: Should also look at when the goals are scored at the fever end. I am sure that we seem to attack the fever end mostly in the 2nd half and score a lot of goals in the 2nd half, tards in the first game an excellent example and most recently against the scum.

Smeltz got the penalty against Adelaide, and pretty sure that was at the Fever end?

Hmmm, maybe we should do what we did for the All Whites vs Vanuatu game? have a mass migration to the other end when the Phoenix are playing towards that goal?

I can't see that many people being arsed moving but its an idea.

er so whats the answer. not as clear-cut as i thought i thinks. maybe it's selective retention - its always better when they score at fever end

So you prefer it when you get your end away rather than someone else's?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Okay, I fixed all my mistakes (hopefully) and collated everything into a table.
http://yomcat.geek.nz/nix/goals.html

Last season: 10/15 at Fever end, or 67%
This season: 5/7 at Fever end, or 71%

Overall: 15/22 at Fever end, or 68%
Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
wow, that's some impressive research.......68% is reasonably convincing that the Fever end is favoured, it would also stand to reason that a lot of our home goals are scored in the second half given that we tend to play towards the other end in the first half.

Last season: 8/15, or 54% in second half
This season: 5/7, or 71% in the second half

Overall: 13/22, or 59%.

Not as convincing...

so then the percentage of goals scored at our end in the second half is 59%???? or is it 59% of all home goals.

59% of all home goals.

Fever end in second half is 7/10 Fever end goals first season and 4/5 Fever end goals this season, so 11/15 or 73% of all Fever end goals are in the second half.

Also, 50% of goals are scored at the fever end in the second half. Which is a lot. (it should be ~25%)

which is what i was getting at earlier, firstly when at home we tend to score a lot of goals in the 2nd half, which thuys far seems to mean that alot of goals are scored at the fever end.

Can you say with 95% confidence that in the long term it is more likely that a goal will be scored in the fever end than the other end, based on this sample size?
