Fourfourtwo story on Hearfield

He has also been stung by suggestions that he is now on the outer at Phoenix.

"Reading a few blogs, a lot of people have got a lot to say about me at the moment," Hearfield said. "'Is Troy getting shown the door? Is Troy doing this or that?' But that's football.

"A lot of people talk and a lot of people that do talk don't know what they are talking about and that's how it is. You have to deal with that.

"It's been tough over the last month not playing and reading stuff like that but you get on with it."

Sometimes even they are pretty hard to find in here!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Troy is an idiot for reading forums (sorry Troy!).
I know its good to read about yourself and find out how things are going. But don't come on here and expect everything to be positive.

Wellington Phoenix squad: 1. Mark PASTON (gk), 3. Tony LOCHHEAD, 4. Nick WARD, 6. Tim BROWN, 7. Leo BERTOS, 8. Paul IFILL, 9. Chris GREENACRE, 10. Oscar Roberto CORNEJO, 11. DANIEL, 13. Troy HEARFIELD, 14. Mirjan PAVLOVIC, 17. Vince LIA, 18. Ben SIGMUND, 19. Danny VUKOVIC (gk), 22. Andrew DURANTE (c), 23. Dylan MACALLISTER

So if Paston is travelling does that mean he is fit? And will play? Cause I thought he was unlikely or something. Think it is between Toto and Ward for the final bench spot.

I am still waiting to see Toto and Daniel (so Toto has someone to talk to on the pitch) play some time together.

It will be interesting to see if Ward plays central, then what happens to Toto?

If Toto wants to talk to Daniel he's going to have to learn Portuguese in a big hurry. I think their communication is more likely to be of the sign-language/shrugging/muffled cursing variety.

Funny, because I was talking about this with someone recently, and they said the same problem is true with Spanish speaking countries in South America - different accents of Spanish.

Portugese and Spanish speakers can generally communicate well enough to understand each other, sure it may not be perfect, but it's better than Toto's English skills.

Yeah, you're probably right. After all they aren't going to be engaging in a deep metaphysical discussion out there, more likely just stuff like "man on", "pass it here shortarse" and "oops, sorry". Be disappointing if we didn't get the odd Manuel-type "que?" out of them too.

I don't think he is an idiot at all for reading forums..at least it shows players have an interest in what the fans think..and as he said in the article..its football..fans are going to have their say but they dont know the truth..

Not really true - Spanish speakers have a very tough time understanding Portuguese, though it's a bit easier for Portuguese speakers to make sense of Spanish.

Portunhol is used to communicate between portuguese and spanish speakers. I have used it myself

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

There was a clip on One News last night of Ricki talking to Daniel and Toto and Daniel certainly looked to be translating for him. So they must be able to communicate somehow.

hmmm so will we line up the same this week?

or will Daniel slide in for bertos? or will we see ward jump on in and take someones spot?

Think it will be an interesting bench, as we wont have defensive cover. So someone is gonna have travelled over there and not get to play? Will it be toto again?

I would personally leave ward out for this one and have toto, bertos and pav on the bench. But thats me

No doubt Ricki will do something stupid and instead of starting Ward for Lia he'll leave Ward on the bench to give Ward time to get used to it.  Or some rubbish like that.  Oh, as well as leaving Bertos to start.

Sorry if I sound cynical but that type or nonsensical tosh happens all the time.

I'm on the 'Lia out, Ward in' boat but I think it would be a bit to early to throw Ward in, even though Lia's been playing like a drunk girl. Ward would have barely even trained with the team yet. I'd like to see him earn his spot like everyone else has to.

Fuck this stupid game

At last my team the Phoenix are in Perth.
This is the first of two games I will get to go and watch.
The forecast for Sunday is low of 5 and high of 20 with plenty of sun.
I really do think that the Phoenix will cause a major upset this Sunday.
As most times when they play here it is bloody hot.
If you are a betting person the TAB over here is giving odds of $31 for Perth to be in front at halftime and the Nix to win at fulltime.
So looking forward to this game.
The down side is that Glory's Andy Todd has recovered from injury.

Perth Glory star trio Mile Sterjovski, Andy Todd and Jamie Harnwell have all been declared fit for Sundays marquee match against Wellington Phoenix.

Sterjovski and Harnwell have both made speedy recoveries from injuries picked up in the 1-nil win against Newcastle.

Sterjovski missed last weeks gripping draw against Melbourne Heart with an ankle injury while Harnwell was sidelined with a calf tear.

Harnwell can now add to his games tally of 237 for Perth Glory, as he closes in on Bobby Despotovskis record of 241.

With two goals in the first two weeks of the season, Sterjovski will be a welcomed addition to Dave Mitchells squad with Michael Baird ruled out because of suspension.

After been passed fit last week, Andy Todd has recovered from illness and is line to play for the first time this season.

The star defender who dominated his first year in the Hyundai A-League is ready for action after minor knee surgery disrupted his pre-season.

"It's a good situation to be in, (having such good) players come back," Mitchell said on Friday.

"(But) are they probably a hundred percent fit, as in match fitness?"

"Andy Todd's certainly not, so it's a situation where you've just got to monitor him and again tomorrow we'll have a look at him again to see if he starts and if not, he might be on the bench."

Sundays match will be the first time the two sides have met since Wellington eliminated the Glory from the finals on penalties last season but Mitchell was quick to play down the hype this match is all about payback.

With Victor Sikora and Baird the only players unavailable, Mitchell has his strongest squad to choose from this season, giving the coach a pleasant head-ache.

"Tomorrow we'll finally decide what we do. We've looked at certain positions, we've put certain players in different roles and now we'll go have some lunch and we'll talk about the different scenarios that we've come up with at training and decide.

"We're at home so we want to maybe have a go at them," he said.

Enjoy the game, but I would hardly call 20 hot.
