Hypothetically, imagine a future in which there was a second NZ team in the A League...
...then imagine a year in which the two NZ teams finished 1st and 2nd and one of them won the Grand Final.
Resulting in NO Australian teams in the ACL the following year.
Then imagine the two kiwi clubs repeated their performance the following year.
THEN something would be done about it... and I am not sure it'd be good for the kiwi clubs either.
Of course the sensible solution for Australia is to get a rewrite of the Australian qualifying rule done, so that it is as it is, PLUS, if one of more of those positions were to end up falling to an inelligbile club (like the Phoenix), then the next highest Australian based club would take the slot.
What we do about getting the Phoenix able to play in the Oceania league is a different question...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
