Bertos....for me.

Week in week out he put in a good shift. He adapted well to a positional shift and always gave 100%. In theory someone who gets 16 goals should get it but Brockie annoyed the hell out of me for most of the season. He would get a wonder goal and then go missing in action for 3 games and then when the criticism built up he would get another wonder goal. Must say he did pick up his work rate under Greenie though.

Spoiler alert: the Fever didn't choose Brockie nor Bertos as the winner from the MoM awards. Brockie actually came 11th in the votes.

How were the MoM votes calculated? Because just totalling the number of votes probably isnt the best way - id say a 3,2,1 system would be a better reflection.
And yeah wouldnt be surprised if Ifill or even Boyd picked up the award - because for a long period when we were playing absolute crap, Boyd was the only one really playing his heart out and doing creating space

I did both, total votes and a 3/2/1 system. The same player won both (and won the total votes by a landslide).

Im still gonna put my money on Boyd or Fenton

It's Paston. He played more games than Moss and in some of the awful ones, he was getting the love for the saves when everyone else was rank awful.

I'm not going to share publicly because we still haven't decided if there is going to be a Fever Awards this year or not.

It will be someone like Siggy or Manny who, despite both being varying degrees of rancid this season, are fever favourites and will generally be absolved of any blame.

If we have to give anyone the POTY this season, I would suggest flagging the Fever Awards and we all just get pissed in the Cue Room again.

Because of the voting system, if you have a stand out game you get the majority of the votes, also the way we have played this season, most players didn't get any votes on days when there was one player who stood out from the rest, thus getting the majority of the votes even if he didn't play that well. So by using the methods that Patrick has, one player stands out head & shoulders above the rest, so well done to ...........

Has to be Brockie.

His job is to score goals and he did that. His job is not to create, run around like Greeny, but to be in the right place at the right time. His goals show that he did this, plus he scored a couple pearlers.

Also his lack of workrate may be partly to do with the lack of a midfield, why make runs along the line and into pockets etc if we are just going to bang it forward. Waste of energy.

Bertos had a good year, but i still doubt his longevity as an attacking player. Workload is excellent but his crossing is still below par and his ability to beat a man which i consider essential in a wide player is almost non existant now a days. Did the job at RB and should be congratulated for this.

Fenton as my outsider, for a guy playing his first year as a professional he looked like he belonged, hard to do when your team is struggling.

There's a range of awards at the awards night. Media player of the year, players player of the year, members player of the year, and player of the year. All season members (and maybe club members, I'm not sure) will get an email soon letting them know how they can vote in the members player of the year award.

The award that is based on the MoM polls on here is a completely different award, that will be potentially be presented at a Fever Awards night.

Make sense?

Kind of. We don't know what we're doing.

Do the awards tend to go the same players?

Ben Sigmund took the clean sweep last year, and Smeltzy also has a clean sweep in season 1. The other three years the awards have been split between different players. Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wellington_Phoenix_FC_end_of_season_awards for more info.

I disagree about Brockie "doing his job"... and I'm aware of how stupid that sounds given his goals to games ratio. But for a lot of the time he was playing as a sole striker and in that capacity he was too lazy, didn't win the ball in the air, and generally was a passenger. His job inthat role wasn't just goal scoring but helping to bring other players into attacking moves. A good portion of the blame for that was no doubt our cruddy midfield, but a lack of running off ball and trying to drop into space from our striker didn't help. Similarly, a lack of pressure on the opposition defense when they're in possession makes it much easier for them to pick out better options to play a pass to, which makes it harder for our defensive players. So basically, I'm saying he was too selfish/lazy to be considered our best player of the season, despite his 16 goals. Bertos, on the other hand, was a team player all year, out of his favoured position but  consistently doing the job his team needed (with the exception of his set-piece delivery).

I don't think there was one really stand out player this season, I think thats represented by the wooden spoon.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

We have 1000 members?
My guess is that they weren't allowed to make the stream free for all members by the people doing the streaming, so they put a limit on that they know won't be reached.
