It might be an SBS connection, since that's where Vitor Sobral came from.

It may also explain poor engagement with local media, including National Radio etc, since they have no contacts there and may think it is like ABC Radio National (i.e. no sport at all) while RNZ National Radio sports bulletins are flooded with EPL news and updates.

That Parkin seems like an encouraging appointment. The media guy is really the Phoenix's key marketing guy given there's not a budget for (or, arguably, value in) actual marketing.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

People jumping ship from the Nix back office left right and center though. That's a bit worrying.

People come and go from jobs.  Mayeb Des and Greenie are shark bosses (for the purposes of that joke Des and Greenie run the back office too)

on reflection, I think it's good some of those people have left.

Allegedly

As long as those coming in are better than those leaving then net gain, and positive change off the pitch - to reflect what's occurring on it.

High turn over ain't a good thing

Most business will on average turn over 30% of their staff in a year.

Generally it's indicative of other failings (leadership, organisation, recruitment, or industry). It can be positive if it addresses the underlying issues and the right people come in. In most cases, it doesn't because most leaders don't look deep enough - it's a band-aid.

Across the country the average is 18.4% turnover/year, (although the Hospitality & Fastfood Industries have a turnover above 50%).

In Wellington the turnover averages around the 17% mark, so with a company the size of the Phoenix you would probably expect to see between 2-3 leaving the Front Office & 6-7 leaving the company as a whole (excluding players)

Can anyone shed any light on the reasoning for the current high turnover levels?

Are the ones that have left or resigned been long term employees? Were they poached or did they just want to get out?

Maybe the club see themselves more as a fast food outlet & are aiming for over 50% staff turnover! ?

Potentially a statistical blip too. Could just be a coincidence that several staff decided to leave around the same time for completely unrelated reasons. Even if it is a 50% turnover (I don't actually know how many non-playing staff the club has) that's not the same as a company with 100 staff losing 50 in a short period of time.

^Thats pretty much what I was thinking.  Staff leave, sometimes 5 at a time for no reason than 5 new jobs.  Unless Patrick knows the place is about to go under or move to Sydney I wouldn't be worried.

Maybe Ernie is starting his own club and taking the staff and players with him, maybe thats why Roly seemed grumpy, he was always going to go with Ernie to the new Scottish A-League club but was pretending to be disgruntled.

All going to the Cronulla Riots expansion club.

I would expect Mark Rudan to pip Ernie for the Head Coach gig there. Ernie's too mellow.

Has Mark Oates been taken on as goal keeping Coach? Noticed he was doing warm ups on Saturday night

I see the new seaton ticket person for the club has Titcket experience. I am in two minds, is this a good thing or a bad thing. Brenda at Ticketec was/is a true legend and diamond at fixing the ten years of constant screw ups by others. But what others with Ticketec experience are like is open to interpretation.

Carl Edwards, formally of Auckland City, has been hired. I assume he is the new video analyst.

Question - Jose for Assistant Coach

Silly idea?

Aye don't think Mourinho would settle for an assistants role!

seriously yes it is a silly idea, Jose's idea of defence is score more goals than the opposition (well ok maybe a bit harsh but that's how Team Wellington played last season), also after the Rado affair I think it showed that Darjie can't handle a high profile number two which is what Jose would be (whether he wanted to be or not)

Some

If that commentary is fair but I don’t think (speculating) he views himself as high profile. He kept his gob shut after the 17s fiasco and got on with it. I think if anything, he works with younger players, provides the attacking opposite to DKs defensive style, cheap and will take orders
