you wouldn’t have thought it would be too hard to find someone who can spell and construct sentences

The job was advertised and was pretty low paying. But this guy seems like a football guy and there's a reason why even professional writers have editors. So let's give him a break and time to improve.

As soon as I saw who the email was from I thought it was another crappy job recruiter, then I read the email and it was actually Phoenix news. I think having his name on it adds a nice personal touch to the email.

That might be the case wage/salary wise but it’s a role where surely a basic understanding of gramma and word processing is essential.

There must be many BA English/Media/Literature grads out there that are scratching around for work and are keen football fans (I’d have jumped on it myself 12 years ago if I had the chance, stepping stones and all that).

Wee retraction and apology to Tim here, whose job includes reading Nix social media... . Sorry Tim.

I read that email and couldn't see much wrong with it, apart from the very long link.

Agree that the club should present itself well to the public, sponsors, players, etc, including a good standard of English.

I think when one hits 25 years of age, grammar does not improve with time.

I also don't think we can afford to hire an editor

I don't think you need an editor to preview an email and notice it's 99% nonsensical link.

It wasn't a link, it was a base 64 decoded version of the image. Good chance it displayed perfectly fine on the preview.

Really? Is this the best we can do? I have to write reports I don't have an editor, I'd get laughed at if I presented this at work.

Is he a "professional writer" then?

After what I have read on this forum, some posters definitely should not be slating people for spelling, grammar or punctuation.. Focus on the positives about the club right now, my goodness.

It’s a link. I know what the code represented - but this is a football forum not a coding forum so no real need to get pedantic.

Tom is a good lad - does some really good work with North Shore currently (was at the game today at Allen Hill), so possibly juggling both roles and has done some work for ACFC in the past - I didn't notice any spelling mistakes but i was only skim reading it - I'm sure he will be more than decent in the role.

Well to be pedantic it wasn't code. In Gmail it appears correctly if you click view original email.

Graeme Davidson, the newly appointed Events Manager for the Wellington Phoenix, is a self-described football fanatic who has played ‘the lovely game’ since he was four, Graeme can’t think of a better job where he can put his passion for football into practice on a daily basis.

Does this mean young Schmitt (sp) has moved on? He was a very nice guy - had some dealings with his mother also when I coached for FTC and they're a lovely bunch of people.

Good on him - he's definitely done his time.  Probably time for a new challenge.

I hope Patrick upgraded Feverbot with a "drum machine" setting before leaving.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Android and iOS both have adequate drum machine programs. All we need is some USB speakers to plug into someone's phone (and someone with basic musical nouse to create simple programs) and we'll not only be the loudest team in the league but the most technologically sophisticated.

Weren't we in the market for a marketing person? I remember seeing something of the sort being advertised a couple of weeks back (either marketing or fan engagement)..
