Due to a concert at Westpac pretty major changes in the schedule. The Chch game which was going to be on the 18th is now on the 5th of December.

I know some people have already booked flights, which presumably are non-refundable, and will be very pissed off about this.

Sorry ZONK, don't want to steal traffic from the club's website, people can read the story from the already posted link.

Thank you very much, having booked flights and a hotel which are now worthless....very poor organisation. Was this concert for Bon Jovi  who incidentally are sh*t anyway not known about before the christchurch game?

flights and hotels booked. This is really unacceptable stuff from the club. Yes, Iknow the fixture list has probably got some small print in it about "subject to change", but that isn't how they've operated in the last 3 years.

Playing devils advocate here.

Perhaps it's the stadium telling them the ground isn't available and the Phoenix being stuck, rather than the Phoenix moving it for the fun of it ?

be that as it may but doesnt the club and the stadium have these discussions prior to fixtures being issued?

How is it the clubs fault? Blame the stadium.

They probably only booked Bon Jovi a couple of days ago

The club will have been compensated by the stadium i would imagine as they held the booking already.

What is really stupid is a 5pm kickoff on Sunday, generally making return on sunday night impossible.

TOTAL f**kUP

The NPC/ITM Cup finishes in November, so it's not like there is anything booked for the Saturday?

The last flight back sunday night leaves 8:25pm it seems...

Adelaide are not playing midweek on the 1st of December, but the Phoenix are in Sydney, which is why we have the Sunday..

Ouch.

1.  Won't be going to ChCh game now (5 Dec not in school hols)
2. Also have tickets for ChCh so will probably use them and have a few days there as planned, just minus a Nix game.
3. As a result, we'll miss the 18 Dec game in Wgtn.

Lose-Lose situation at the moment (counting thetime in ChCh as neutral - will be nice to get away)

There is Canterbury v Wellington rugby on the 25th of Sept, the day after a Phoenix Home game- looks like transferring to this might be the only workable option.

Seriously annoyed by this. Flights and hotel already booked. I realise it's not entirely the clubs fault, so hopefully the "interim CEO" can drop the various flight companies a note as ask if they can be nice to us when rebooking stuff.

I'm slightly disappointed!

I'm more pissed about the fact that us in Christchurch have been lumped with Adelaide.  Was excited about Newcastle, having seen the Phoenix demolish them 3-0 in style last season, but Adelaide are just plain dull.  I'll still be there, of course.

I very very much doubt that. The club would have had a confirmed booking, and westpac would have compensated them for the change of date. I very much doubt that the westpac can substitute a date without consent.

I'd ask the acting CEO to compensate fans for change fees who hold pre-announcement booking out of this package, and to consider the loss of goodwill to season ticket holders who have paid good money in flights and hotels to go support their team.

Yup, just realised as i've used airpoints, i have two seperate bookings, and the change fee is $50 per person, per booking, so to change my tickets to anything for the 4 of us will cost $400.

Thanks very much indeed.

The Nix need to get out in front of this, whatever the reason is it has happened they still came out with a season schedule 6-weeks (ish) ago which had a game in Chch. Domestic travel being what it is people booked early to get the cheapest flights and based on the fact that no whisper at all had come from the club on this.

They should a) be apologising profusely for the inconvenience and b) looking for ways to help the people who have already spent money on flights.

I think if the club had indicated this might happen (they may well have had no idea absolutely that it was even in the pipeline but I would find that surprising) then people would be less peeved. To have it heaped on people, especially after releasing memberships and selling apparently excessively expensive Boca tickets, is not great PR at a time when the sport is making huge strides.

don't know about that but i remember sometime ago being told something along the lines of  rugby and cricket get first right to dates at the stadium and we get told what to do if rugby or cricket wanted to play a game on the same day we'd be moved to anther date guess it's the same thing with concerts we don't have that much say in the matter (if i understand it right)
still sucks like sh*t though for all the fans who've got in early with flights and accommodation

In England fixtures are quite often changed at short notice due to teams making another round in a cup etc what do the clubs there do for their fans ??

To be honest, they don't do anything.

However this is more of an expectation thing. Cup runs, and the demands of Sky mean that you can expect the time/day of matches to change from the original season fixture list. In the UK Sky can decide with relatively little notice to show a game, and that often changes the time and even day of kick-off.

In the previous three seasons, the Phoenix have stuck to the original fixture list almost exactly, and in fact that is what they're doing here. They are playing the same matches, at the same times as originally scheduled, but at a different venue. I don't know how many people had already booked Christchurch trips, but it quite a major inconvenience and cost to change now. Potentially greater than the inconvenince of changing the time/date of the 5th Dec home match. So the A-League, the Phoenix ans Sky TV are ok, it's just the supporters who get shafted.

I thought it might have been a good idea to move the December 5 match the Palmerston North, FMG Stadium and keep the Christchurch match date the same, as a lot of people inculding me have booked flights for the 18th December at for that match and it is a big inconvinience to change it. FMG Stadium is not that far so it is not that disadvantage for many members who would be prepared to travel.

I've had a reply from the acting CEO, in which he states:

"stadium unavailability is, quite simply, the only factor that has forced the club to amend the fixture schedule, effectively swapping the December 5 and December 18 matches. This is the result of circumstances entirely outside the clubs control.

The club only learned of the clash of the December 5 match with the Bon Jovi concert late last week. As per our contract with Westpac Stadium, all concert events take precedence over sporting events and, as such, the decision to reschedule the fixtures was imposed on us well after the original season draw had been released."

Yeah but what are they going to do about helping the fans who have basically been shafted and left out of pocket because of this?

Right, I will be boycotting stadium parking then for the rest of this Phoenix, ITM cup & for next years Hurricanes season, and will not attend any other events at the westpac. They can f**k off if they thinking I'm buying their overpriced rubbish inside as well.

I will be writing to them to tell them i have no goodwill left to the Westpac.

No, Zonk, you were saying something about inexcusable, pathetic Nix management, who can't possibly have been dicked around by the stadium but were obviously just slack and stupid, and you want your money back and a footrub from Terry?

I never said " inexcusable, pathetic Nix management" at all.

I did say that i thought they'd have to agree to as move dates ( which in fairness contractually it seems they have pre-agreed to it.)

I still maintain they're likely to be compensated by the Westpac for this & I don't think you're denying that the whole fiasco has cost a number of people a substantially ammount of money

What a Joke - Ive organised a group of 7 to go down, booked non refundable flights and accommoation already for a game thats going to be in Wellington -
The Game on the 5th at the stadium was going to be the start of my Stag party as Im getting married on the 6th December - so now I miss out on both games and have wasted tickets to Christchurch - If I hadnt already brought my season ticket I would no longer get one

Yes, because penalising the club for something beyond their control is exactly what the club needs.
