Phoenix Friday

A few weeks ago myself and Cosmo were walking down Lambton Quay on a Phoenix Friday, I was wearing my replica shirt under a jacket and Cosmo was wear a Phoenix zippy top thingy.  Some bloke walking in the opposite direction gave us the big "C'mon Phoenix" as he passed, unfortunately for Cosmo the immediate response his brain came up with was an "Aaarrrgggh", that's right just like a pirate.

The reason that I share this tale is that as I was wandering down Lambton Quay at lunchtime today I didn't see one, not one, retro Ricki or Phoenix replica shirt and it got me thinking.....

I'd like to suggest that during the off season every Friday should be Phoenix Friday, and RR's and Replica shirts should be adorned.

Not only that, but if (and only if) you are wearing one of the aforementioned items of clothing and you pass someone dressed in a similar Phoenix supporting fashion, a cry of (and it doesn't have to be too loud) of c'mon Phoenix should be directed at the aforementioned stranger, and if you're the aforementioned stranger at which the cry is directed you should reply with the Johnny Depp of all "Aaarrrgggh's"

Let's keep Phoenix Friday alive through these beautifully sunny months.

If you think I'm talking sh*t I'll understand......

Better yet - if you run into a fellow feverite - reel off a few verses of "Ricki Herbert's Yellow Army" (one of you leading with a Scottish accent), "Phoenix Till I Die" and "Oh Wellington"

I'm planning on alternating between my three Phoenix tops (Retro Ricki, limited edition Replica, Sony Replica) daily this year at uni. Friends think I'm crazy.

A tale of a similar sort.My sons car broke down so like an over generous dad i lent him mine for a week.As he is a chef and works late he was saying he was stopped at the lights and some guys banged on the boot and started screaming who are ya so out he jumps about to give them a verbal when he realises what the plate is.Then 2 days later driving home he said a car is following him and they are tooting the horn and screaming at him once again he stops at lights and is about to ask them what the problem is when he hears them letting rip with Im Phoenix Till I Die.
Think it might be some time before he asks for dads car again.

I'm up for it. If anyone sees a guy with longish curly hair in a RR and black glasses at Vic, come say hello.

Yep, Fridays should be a permanent Phoenix Friday. Brilliant idea Danielslb. Like Friday nights are usually fish & chip nights in some households. I hope Nix fans continue to meet up after the season. Lonegunmen2008-01-18 17:18:01

I live in Nelson and wear my RR every friday and the day the nix play and if they win, wear it the following day to celebrate

But i havn't seen one other RR in Nelson apart from my brother's. It's a shame.
I hope there's heaps of support when head down to Canterbury Uni!

It might make popping out to get lunch a bit time consuming, but I suggest that you all 'who are ya' everyone you see who is not wearing Phoenix apparel on a Friday

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I hardly bother with Fever Friday because it's very rare that a day goes by that I'm not wearing Phoenix gear anyway.

Example - today (Friday) I wore my Yellow Fever black polo...to a wedding reception . The couple are Phoenix fans, they both came to the first ever match with me and another mate.

Myself and a few of the boys are going to the sevens in a couple of weeks. Now I know mentioning the R word is not allowed.   But we are going in Phoenix kits. So if you are going to the sevens and your not dressing up in some poxey costume come and visit us in the Red Zone and make some noise.

Robb  & Parkz15, you inspire me, I'm going to work a few more overtime shifts and pick up a few more RR Teeshirts. I'll clean out my tee shirt draw and replace them with a Tee Shirt for each day!

Both Retro-Ricki's are in the wash, as is my strip... so I've pulled on a season 3 Kingz away top.

give em a "who are ya??"

you might get an "AARRRGGHH" in reply

though it doesn't always work, 4 of us in nix gear politely "who are ya-ed" a guy who was wearing a retro recently and he seemed to just scuttle off into the crowd

"CMon Phoenix" seems less threatening, even if less fun
